What does a science fiction author have to do with anything?

And what is this CSI business? Crime Scene Investigation? I'm assuming the intention was to describe Intelligent Design but where did the abbreviation CSI come from?

The distinction is between realistic portrayals of the scientific method vs CSI, or unrealistic glossed up shows which solve the crime at the speed of plot.

It's basically a distinction between realism and idealism.
