  • I think BP's robots are awesome, and I would gladly do their bidding if they acquired sentience.

Anytime. I may even have a copy I can send you, if I can find it. If you want me to look for it, just let me know. I'd also recommend reading blogs like Marginal Revolution (Cowen & Tabarrok), Cafe Hayek (Russ Roberts & Don Boudreaux, two more George Mason econ professors), and the Becker-Posner Blog (7th Circuit Judge/U of Chicago law professor Richard Posner & U of Chicago econ professor Gary Becker). Most, if not all three, of those have links to other good economics blogs, too. Just casually reading them from time to time will put you ahead of most people in understanding.

I just did a quote for Calgary when I move in a month, and my car insurance there will be $95/mo. $250 to $95 just for changing my postal code.

        I hate this ****ing city.

I got mine down to $660 per year, with collision (but on an older vehicle).

Because they are public property, and won't be renewed. It therefore makes sense to maximise the return to the public from them, without actually driving away those who want to extract them.

All countries around the world adopt this approach with non-renewables.

I don't think you're really doing your best to kill mother earth.

I fly short haul flights and cab it everywhere when I'm right on top of a subway, and work is by a subway also.

I'm mostly doing it so I spend as much of my company's money as possible (I hate them, I get points on my card), but it's a two-birds-with-one-stone thing.

In Canada, one's marginal tax rate has no bearing on the value of tax credits.

Well, according to my ecological economics class, the argument seems to be that you can't always replace natural capital with human capital. The argument that my prof used is that "if you devestate the fish stocks, it doesn't matter if you double the amount of fishing ships you have."

If this is a stupid post... I do still have less than 200 posts

                          • Yes. That's the color, too.

                            My taillights are different though.

It's an awesome car. Love driving it. I've also got tinted windows, which looks way better.

My taillights (stock) are like this one:

Wales is mostly high ground. It does have a very long coast - but in the main these are bounded by high cliffs.

Cardiff is already behind quite a high barrage and if sea levels started rising significantly, I'm sure they'd have a second excuse to build the barrage - mainly because the English on the other side would be whining about getting flooded etc, so it would get done.

In fact, talking of the English, if the sea levels rose significantly, we'd have to recommission Offa's **** to keep them out of all our lovely high ground - ah the delicious irony...
