HC:
Do you think Islam is opposed to democracy and freedom or just a particular interpretation of Islam espoused by radical Islamists?"Flutie was better than Kelly, Elway, Esiason and Cunningham." - Ben Kenobi

The fact that I can observe that society determines if a law has been broken or not via a guilty/not guilty verdict in a trial does not mean I'm incapable of seeing nuance.
Nuance is what gets discussed in the trial, then a judgement is made. The judgement is how our society views if a law has been violated.
In that sense, law violations are binary. You can only be convicted of breaking a law through the binary guilty/not guilty system.
I feel we've become lost here as I have to explain to you societal fundamentals -- perhaps you could recap your big, overarching point here..."The issue is there are still many people out there that use religion as a crutch for bigotry and hate. Like Ben."

'You're being superficial again. Yes, on the law point I think laws should be adhered to on principle -- especially when you're dealing with foreign relations. Violating a law, unfortunately, IS binary. You either do or you don't.'
You were really just trying to explain that juries always end up returning a verdict of guilty or not guilty? Really? Why would you think that's remotely relevant? Because the far more obvious interpretation of your post is that our actions themselves are always either consistent or inconsistent with the law, and it is wrong to do actions that are inconsistent.
I feel we've become lost here as I have to explain to you societal fundamentals -- perhaps you could recap your big, overarching point here...
That last trait is pretty horrible when combined with your massive ignorance of the real world.

I've tried to soldier on in this argument but this is just too painful for me.
I've not abandoned any of my points. Israel should not have boarded the ship in international waters, Israel should not have boarded at night. The method they boarded incited a panic and contributed to the disaster.
All of my points remain and are still valid. Unfortunately for you, all of your points combine into one simple subjective belief that violating laws is a-okay as long as the person/country violating does not perceive there to be a negative consequence to doing so.
It's pathetic, and I can argue about this no more. If you want to talk about my points, you gotta do something other than cite your opinion that violating laws is fine and dandy so long as you think hurts no one.
Nevermind that the time & place the ship was boarded did change things. If they'd waited til daylight in Israeli waters, guarantee you it'd have ended differently."The issue is there are still many people out there that use religion as a crutch for bigotry and hate. Like Ben."

Why do we now have two threads where Asher and Kuci go back and forth about some nonsense vaguely related to Israel's boarding of that ship?"Flutie was better than Kelly, Elway, Esiason and Cunningham." - Ben Kenobi

Actually, in all seriousness, is it just me or does Kuci want to turn everything into measurable variables for regression analysis or something?"Flutie was better than Kelly, Elway, Esiason and Cunningham." - Ben Kenobi
