One paragraph as a summary on Canada, in a report that deals with digital piracy, trademarks, and counterfeiting among other things.

I really hope that post wasn't another sniveling attempt at pretending like the report was talking about how big a deal trademark infringement was in Canada. 'cause we all know that's exactly what the report was talking about, the rampant trademark infringement in Canada...I'm sure it has nothing to do with internet piracy, despite being mentioned three times in that paragraph.

Edit: Though now that I think about it more, you are completely right. Studios aren't worried about their movies being pirated, they're worried about their trademarks being infringed on when people watch them and see the studio logo at the beginning.

I've already told you this. In the same paragraph it mentions how Canada should ratify the WIPO Internet treaties it signed in 1997 which would make that illegal. Which would then facilitate the laptop seizures.

The WIPO treaty is where the US got its DMCA from. Canada has not yet passed into law an equivalent act. The US is lobbying HARD for it, which is the entire ****ing point of the excerpt I quoted, which is why it's ****ing amusing nye thinks it's about viagra and babyfood.

It's not off topic from the point of view of the authors of the report you quoted from for the OP.

If you think really hard you might realise that the US government would be very concerned with $30 bln dollars a year of counterfeit goods, maybe since they mention their concern in the report you do not seem to have read.
