But the outcome is the same, the stubborn refusal to admit that whichever belief construct you believe in defies all logic and reason!

So yeah, you're just like a Ben lite version.
I would argue that over 4 billion people on earth being religious suggests that your position is not perfectly clear to any sane person.

Especially considering that a majority(?) of atheists don't consider deists to be insane or lacking in reasoning/intellectual honesty.

    • Ming or JR, please feel free to correct anything that you think I may not have remembered completely.

After Ming and I stepped down as owners of the site, Ben and Guy along with JR got together to offer us a token of their appreciation for all the work we've done. When JR originally mentioned it, I was a little put off since Ben was involved. I was afraid that he would want something back. (obviously I was right based on Ben trying to extract a public thank you for the gift) So I kept ignoring it since I really didn't want to dis Guy or JR since I like them. Jr kept bringing it up and I eventually told him thank you but no thanks, I couldn't accept anything from Ben since I didn't want to have ANY obligation to him. So I told JR, not to include me but not say anything to not offend Guy. End of story.

Only a creep would publicly demand a thank you, or use it in a debate like it actually proved anything. I am really glad now that I followed my instincts and refused it. I again apologize to Guy and JR. No slight to them was intended.

        • Gee I got the same offer from the previous administration to ban You.
          I refused that offer also.

Moby's conception of airtight argument is not the same as everyone else's. "There are many different religions each claiming exclusive revelation; therefore, they are all entirely false" is his trump card. Which is why I no longer engage him in argument--with the exception of one troll which I foolishly bit, a few months back, and ironically wound up defending the Catholic church against like five people. Which sort of hurts BK's "Elok hates Catholicism" schtick, BTW (howzat for a relevant tie-in?).

                        • LOS ANGELES (AP) - The future Pope Benedict XVI resisted pleas to defrock a California priest with a record of sexually molesting children, citing concerns including "the good of the universal church," according to a 1985 letter bearing his signature.

The correspondence, obtained by The Associated Press, is the strongest challenge yet to the Vatican's insistence that Benedict played no role in blocking the removal of pedophile priests during his years as head of the Catholic Church's doctrinal watchdog office...

In the November 1985 letter, Ratzinger says the arguments for removing Kiesle are of "grave significance" but added that such actions required very careful review and more time. He also urged the bishop to provide Kiesle with "as much paternal care as possible" while awaiting the decision, according to a translation for AP by Professor Thomas Habinek, chairman of the University of Southern California Classics Department.

But the future pope also noted that any decision to defrock Kiesle must take into account the "good of the universal church" and the "detriment that granting the dispensation can provoke within the community of Christ's faithful, particularly considering the young age." Kiesle was 38 at the time.

Kiesle had been sentenced in 1978 to three years' probation after pleading no contest to misdemeanor charges of lewd conduct for tying up and molesting two young boys in a San Francisco Bay area church rectory...

Oh, so you never actually took the money?

I've been asking for about a year or so. Yes, I did want something back, a simple thank you, that's all. I was curious what you guys did with the money.

The idea behind it was to give you guys something tangible, a game of golf for both Ming and you as a thank you for all the crap you put up with here on Poly.

I did send pms before with no answer, so I didn't even know if you had gotten the money. Thanks for telling me what happened rah, I appreciate it.

                              • If they did, more's the better.

I didn't really care what they did with the money, so long as they got it and did something that they enjoyed with it.

Jrabbit suggested that they would enjoy a golf game so I figured why not have one on us to make up for all the **** that's come up on Poly?

Anyways, I'm sorry that you and Ming were offended. I was simply trying to do something nice for you guys.
