So... you are claiming that the RCC method of moving priests to a new parish without telling it's members, and in some cases, allowing the accused to rape all over again right away is more effective than sending them to jail and putting them on a national list available to all.

Now that you mention it, the national sex-offender registry isn't terribly useful. It contains child rapists...and exhibitionists and peeping toms...and guys who had consensual sex with sixteen-year-olds when they were twenty-one. The Economist did a cover story on those lists a few months ago, IIRC. They'd be a lot more useful if they were restricted to the genuinely dangerous.

Which is not to say that even the present lists, by themselves, would not be more useful than the church's solution.

Compared with the present system where they come out after two years, reoffend, and not only do that, as in my example, but adopt a child and use her as a sex slave for 10 years, yeah I'd say the system is broken.

If you think that's broken, what about the RCC approach where the priest can start molesting again the minute he gets relocated. And for example, go on to abuse many more children.

And again, your two year figure is crap... But, that's better than no time in jail and the ability to continue to do what they were doing right away. You talk about a broken system, but it's better than NO SYSTEM... All the RCC did was shuffel the deck chairs on the Titanic.
