I'll be the first to admit that in the past, I would watch the Russian skater go and quite frequently say, "OK, everyone else is competing for second place." but this time I didn't get that feeling. His skating was not above and beyond everyone else (with the exception of the one jump). I actually thought he didn't look like he was even trying to do his best. Yes, I am not an expert, but that makes what I saw even more telling. If I could see the lack, it had to be obvious others.

Canada -Russia should be a great battle. I think as follows

Forwards-- Russia should have the best first line and arguably the best second line

defence-- Russia -- I don't think they have the depth of Canada but at the same time I have been completely unimpressed by Pronger-- Keith has been amazing and Doughty great after his bobble against the Swiss

Goalies-- It seems like Russia plans to go with Nabokov. he is capable of a good game and could sink Canada but I would be more afraid of Bryzgalov on that score-- Luongo should be good. He had a game to get set and he has to know that its largely on him

Who wins? damned if I know. The team that gets the best goaltending??? Since I could see lots of chances each way, goaltending will be huge
