In Plushenko's mind (and website), he's the platinum medal winner
    By Maggie Hendricks

Evgeni Plushenko's long, delusional journey continues. Just days after the silver medalist for men's figure skating denied that Evan Lysacek is the true champion of men's figure skating, he has apparently awarded himself a platinum medal. From his official website:

It reads, "Silver of Salt Lake, Gold of Torino, Platinum of Vancouver." What's impressive here is that not only has Plushenko's website team fabricated an Olympic medal, it designed a platinum medal, too. Bravo. That's commitment to a delusion.

    • What do you expect from a grown man who's whole life has been dedicated to a woman's sport. He's obviously read too many credit card solicitations and next year will invent a diamond medal.
It's almost as if all his overconfident, absolutist assertions were spoonfed to him by a trusted website or subreddit. Sheeple

I'm not a big fan of the "sport", but I have to admit that Canadian pair was amazing. No flaws, no mistakes, nothing to complain about. No single posibility for our pair to win back four points they were lossing after the original dance.

Clear and flawless victory. No doubts that Canada was better this evening. My congrats.

p.s. Still I insists that writing all this bullsh!t about how Russian original dance hurts the feeling of the native people of Australia and the same bullsh!t of your western media campaign, was a dirty move.

Damn, I just watched our pair - it was amazing too. I'm not sure about clear victory now. IMHO, in this dance both pairs were close. Two amazing shows (haven't seen American pair yet).

The evil North American (the Native people) had no problems with their costumes. It was Australian native people who have started to complain about their costumes and moves at the last WC (like they have ever seen the ice and care a thing about the ice dancing). That was BS. Though I admit we have lost the original dance to Canada. The Russian program was too "experimental" in the original dance. Canada won this gold fair and square.

Even if we assume that he won only silver at 2010 he is still the only one man in the world who has three Olympic medals in the modern men figure skating. The last such achievement was in 1920's when figure skating was about just skating without performing even doubles.

The judges listen, and give him scores more in line with his actual level of performance (and not his reputation). This was not an American plot; it was caused by his own acknowledgement that he puts all his effort into the jumps, at the expense of other elements.
                          1) Ok, here we come to the main problem of the modern scoring system. When a sportsman prepares himself for a complicated jump (and a quad is a hell of a jump, not to mention 4+3 combination) he doesn't have time to shake his ass and wave his hands (what you call an artistic presentation), because he have to be extremely concentrated on his upcoming jump. So what the hell surprises you in Plushenko's and Stojko's attitude towards transitions? They both think that doing the most comlicated technical elements (jumps) - is the essence of the man figure skating as a sport. If you exclude this risk - you throw the sport 20 years back, when such triples as Lysacek have demonstrated in 2010 was a pick of technical exellence in 1980's. But it is not now.

The sport must progress. ANY sport must progress.

This is the story of the sport. It's progressed all the time. To win you had to be better than than your rivals, you had to take the risks and try to perform the jumps others can't do. That was what made figure skate a real sport. Since 20's people were first jumping singles, then doubles, then triples, then quads to win the gold. The point of the competition was to outperform your competitors in the most difficult technical element. Now it's nomore. And it's a huge step backward.

                          2) For two god damn years the judges we taught how to kill Plushenko, because the ISU have released the training DVD for judjes which included Plushenko's performance at Olympics-2006. And his performance there (when he won the gold and set two world records for both short and free program) was shown as a failure. First of all that's bullsh!t, because Plushenko in 2006 was AMAZING and it was a CLEAR win, nobody else was even a close back then. Secondly, that predefined the judges opinoin for the years forward.
Sure after Plushenko's come back to the big sport they have withdrawn this DVD from judges learning course, but it was too late. For years judges have been taught how to penaltize an Olympic champion (Plushenko). And here we go - Plushenko gets a little bit less ('cause the judges pays an additional attention to him), while Lysacek gets a little bit more (actually a seven points more for the same program he had at WC). And Patrick Chan gets 160 points, only five points less than Plushenko despite Chan has fallen three times. How the f*ck Chan could got 160+ points after all his landings on his ass while doing basic jumps, when the defending Olympinc champion didn't fall even once while doing MUCH more complicated jumps and got for this only five points higher? It's five God damn points difference between a guy who didn't perform his basic triples (and has fallen three times) and the guy who performed much more complicated jumps and combinations without falls.

                          Five points.

One the other hand Lysacek gets 7.+ more points for the same program, the same jumps, the same performance, he got when he won the last WC.
I insist. Explain this. You have evaded this question (as many others). But I really want you to explain this.

Seven points is a HELL of a penalty.

And how the hell Chan could get his 160+ marks after all his falls if the judges were "fair"?
Jhony Weir have clearly outperformed Chan and Lambiel and probably even Takahashi (at least his presentation was the best out of ALL skaters), but his marks were just pure bullsh!t. Yes, I know he is a gay (at least I think so) but his performace there was MUCH better than Chan's and Lambiel's. And his artistic presentation was just the best. Nobody else was even near (including the medalists).
But still judges gave him ridiculous marks.

So Plushenko knew the rules. Of course he did.
Oh great, now I have convinced you that he did.

                          Good.

It's a huge progess in comparison to your previous claims that the guy has fallen to his own misunderstanding of the modern rules.

But he did not back-load his program,
Sure. Who needs to back-load the program, when in the first half of your program, after all your jumps you SHOULD get the points that will allow you to win the competition?

and did not perform all the elements planned.
Who needs to perform 4+3+2 when your competitor didn't even perform 4+3 while you did?
Plushenko has shown exactly what is needed to outscore Lysacek (in accordance this the "new system" you have claimed he doesn't know a sh!t about). If you think a defending Olympic world champion HAVE to demonstrate 4+3+2 to beat a TRIPLE of the competitor, then excuse me - you are hopeless.

And your inane comment about "smiling to the judges" is especially disingenuous, considering that it was Plushenko who was blowing kisses.

                          From Reuters:
The 27-year-old showman, sporting a sequined bodysuit with red waistcoat and silver tie pattern, flirted with the camera, winked at the crowd and blew a kiss toward the judges but all that could not hide the faults in his routine.

Plushenko dropped the double loop from his opening quad-triple-double combination and drew gasps as he wobbled out of his triple Axel. He performed 11 jumps, but also had another snatched landing midway through his display.
If you have demonstrated you did your stuff higher, faster and stronger than the others, then after that you can blow your kisses to the camera and spectators for all you care. Because you are the winner.
But when you substitute your doing of technical stuff with "artistic presentation" (read: ass-shaking and hand wavings)" of the end of your less than a mediocre program (man, he was such an artist when he was celebrating the end of his program, good acting, I give him that), that's another case.

Those are all deductions, each worth more than 1.31 points. That's what cost him the gold.
Stojko thinks thinks they were close everywhere, except Plushenko's technical superirority and that judges decision was a mockery at the end.
A mockery that kills the figure skating as sport.
Besides, you still haven't explained how the hell Chan could have recieved 160+ points after all his falls - just five points lower than Plushenko. And how Lysacek could have recieved seven more points for exactly the same progam and performance at Olympics than he received at WC-2010?
If three falls and five points difference because of that - this is what distinguish a fifth place from the first place, then how the hell a seven points difference between Lysacek's performance at WC and Olympics doesn't matter?
How many times did Lysacek fall at WC thus he recieved 7 points less at the Olympics for exactly the same program?

                          The answer is - NONE.
His performance at WC and olympics was the same. Or at least nowhere near a seven points difference.

You've now admitted that your problem is with the rules. As I've stated previously, that's a different discussion.
My problem is with the unfair rules that kill the sport in the long term and the unfair decision of the judges (in accordance with these unfair rules) who gave a gold medal to the wrong person.
