So, gay people are permitted to serve. They are paid the same as everyone else. They don't go through a tenth of what black people used to go through, or what some people still go through today.

How would you like it if you were in the service and were told that your religion isn't allowed but as long as you didn't tell anybody what your religion was, you'd be ok.

Personally? I'd be thrilled to get an opportunity to serve, where all I had to do was shut up keep my head down and do my job. That's all I've ever asked for, but I don't get that choice.

You see, rah, I'm considered to be disabled. I don't get that chance to have people judge me on what I can do rather than their perceptions. I can't serve because of restrictions on disabled folks.

So where's the discrimination here?

No, because for most of that time it was considered a setteled issue as far as the military and the majority of the populous.

Another thing I found interesting in that article DD linked, was how Clinton's attempt to use executive authority as command-in-chief to eliminate discrimination for gays and lesbians led homophobic Democrats and Republicans to trump Clinton in denying him that authority. It created a controversy over authority of commander-in-chief versus authority of legislature with issues concerning the military.

None of that made sense.

They point is that they have a chance to show what they can do. They are permitted to serve in the military, a point I've made many, many times. Hopefully it will sink in that they can serve, whereas I'm medically invalidated. So how's that for justice and equality?

1. You'd think that if Israel et al were considered a more professional force because of their openness, that I would consider the US to be more professional because of the caveats.

Two arguments, go ahead and choose.

1, homosexuality is like my disability, something I've had since birth and cannot do anything to change.
2, homosexuality is like my religion, which I can change and something that I've chosen.

Seems to me you are arguing the latter if you agree with rah here, in comparing your choice of sexual partners with my religion.
