If a political cartoon can generate riots and death threats
So because Muslims would be offended we should shut down Christian sayings on rifles?

I personally find it amusing. I have in the past done this myself on ad materials, just enough to make people wonder, is that on purpose?

I do wonder what the outcry would be from Christian groups if the engravings on military scopes were references to Quran verses instead?

Imran, I would first assume it was part of the item code. If I later found out that it was because the scope maker was a Muslim, I'd be fine with it. As long as the scope works, I see no problems. Christians aren't nearly as hateful of Muslims as Muslims are of Christians. We're cool with people having other ideas, as long as they don't ram those ideas down our throats with death threats. If the verse in question were anti-Christian it would be a different story. But if it were some verse referring to God as the source of light or otherwise similar in tone and theme to these verses, I'd be fine with it. These are illuminated optics here, I think it's perfectly reasonable to have references to light on them. You could just as easily make running shoes that have ECC9:11 on them. "I turned me to another thing, and I saw that under the sun, the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, nor bread to the wise, nor riches to the learned, nor favour to the skilful: but time and chance in all." Would that be proselytizing? Or would it just be some badass **** to have on your shoes before you run circles around some trifling fool?

Who cares? If Christian fundamentalists had any real influence in American society, we never would've elected a Muslim president...

Having bible verses associated with instruments of death has always been distasteful in my opinion. I won't get all upset about it because the military is full of that stuff regardless if the brass officially approves of it or not. I can see however where it would not be expedient for the US military to be projecting this kind of stuff while in a Muslim country. It isn't about giving in to Muslim retards, its about having a little common sense about what your displaying. The Pentagon will have to decide if it is worth the problems created to keep the equipment and the company will have to decide if it is worth the expense on keeping the verses.

I could find it supremely funny that I am killing Taliban fighting a holy war with weapons inscribed with their own religious messages.

In any case, the DoD uses Windows and IE products almost exclusively and blatantly so and thus we are delivering all our foreign partners into their market share. When is Apple going to sue?

Yeah, it's not like there isn't already widespread suspicion throughout the Muslim world that the USA is engaging in a religious conflict with a goal is to oppress Islam. So I can't imagine how this would POSSIBLY reinforce that idea, nooooo.
