It's not a religious mark. It's letters, numbers, and punctuation. It has no clear meaning to anybody except people who are in on it. It's not a publicly recognized Christian symbol, like a cross or chi rho or Jesus fish. It's not an actual quotation. It's just a reference to a verse, etched someplace that few people will pay attention to it.

If you want to convince me that this is wrong, you're going to have to show me someone who has been harmed by it. Show me some soldier or marine who found this cryptic series of letters and numbers, deduced its meaning and was offended by what he found. Unless someone is harmed, this is a perfectly legitimate expression by these people.

Asher brought up In-N-Out Burger. They make really good fast food. I've never had it, it's a West Coast thing, but my brother and friends of mine all swear by it. Just like Trijicon, they make an outstanding product and happen to put Biblical references on them. Does that offend people who eat there? I've never heard complaints, it's just a quirky aspect of a famous burger joint.

Who cares where or what it is. If you don't agree with it, you probably don't want to carry it.

Define harm. If you were a soldier, would you accept a weapon if it says "I fight for satan".

If I found out that a burger joint put such on their package, I surely wouldn't visit that place again. Their products may be fine, but would you buy stuff from a place that phraises the actions of Al-Qaeda ?
With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.

I don't agree, because very few people read what was being said. Once I realized what was going on my eyes rolled so far back into my head I started hallucinating.

If I didn't know that it meant anything at all, I'd ignore it.

No, but if somebody etched IFFS on something, I'd figure it meant something innocuous and ignore it. Unless it's relevant to how the equipment works, I probably wouldn't care what it said.

In-N-Out Burger isn't affiliated with anybody violent or anything. It's just that the owner is devout, and he felt that he should express that with his company. His company makes good food, and it's not pushy about Christianity. It's quite possible to go to In-N-Out Burger or Chick-fil-A and never notice the Christian subtext.

That's probably the kindest thing you've said this month. Thanks, Asher.

It must be a second-hand high.

Sure, ifyou dont know it, probably no problem, but what about the dayt someone explains to you what IFFS means ?

So what. Christianity has a pretty violent history and there are people that don't want to be connected to organisations with such a path. Why should they secretly be connected with this organisations violent past ? Even if they are not aware of this subtle connection. Actually, they are ****ing their customers for their own beifit.

Wow! BOTH sides are acting retarded! "I want you to accept Jesus into your heart, and by 'Jesus,' I mean 'a reaaaally big ****ing bullet.' Accepting Jesus into your brainstem works too."

Well, I suppose I'll be more concerned about the flying pigs.

Vikings have a violent history full of raping and pillaging, but nobody blames the modern Nordic countries for their past. Did the founder of In-N-Out Burger ever do anything terrible? By all accounts, he was pretty decent, and his company pays people above average salaries for the industry.

I think you have a pretty distorted view of Christianity. It's like somebody thinking that the Danes are war-mongers based on what happened a thousand years ago.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, I'm a product of public schools. Honestly I had no idea that the two words were spelled differently, because nobody ever says "Discreetion is the better part of valor."
