While I won't make a judgement here, all I can say is that you never know.
My father-in-law was a public figure. In public 99% of the time he would spout the PC version. In private he was one of the biggest bigots I ever met. The 1 time he slipped in public, they gave him a pass based on the other 99% not realizing that the 1 time event was the only time he was truthful in public.
