Why is it stupid. If you could be killed for being a priest, I would think that would be a pretty important measure.

I already pointed out why it's stupid. Using risk-taking as some sort of bull**** metric as to how women and men are different and therefore banning women from something is justified is stupid. Why? Because once an individual expresses the desire to take the risk, the point becomes moot. It doesn't matter if men are more likely to take risks than women, only that you find some--or at least one--woman willing to take the risk.

And why is risk-taking a desirable trait in a priest, anyway? I don't see how it has any particular relevance to priesthood over and above other professions.

Claiming that being a priest is a higher-risk position than, say, a nurse or a teacher, is idiotic. I'd say both of those are currently much higher-risk than being a priest.

But scripture are based on the society where it was written. Todays society has a totally different view on womens role in society, so don't you think that todays religion should mirror that ?
