1. Support regulations to force insurance companies to accept all people regardless of preexisting conditions

and

2. Don't support a mandate that all individuals purchase health insurance

... are retarded.

I think it would be a great demonstration of asymmetric information (technically asymmetric ability to act on information) to see both of those things at the same time.

Scare tactics are a time honored tradition for both sides. It's usually the only way to get the people to pull their heads up out of the feed trough or when the politician is in trouble to make their opponants seem so much worse in comparision. Perhaps I'm being too cynical and just don't have the audacity to hope.
