To elaborate: when I visited Israel last summer, it really did feel like it was under siege. Obviously this case was wrong, and the racism against Arabs is unjustified (especially Arab-Israeli citizens), but it I am more sympathetic to it than most racism.

I don't particularly care what you are more sympathetic to, Kuci.
Israeli Arabs are actually SURPRISINGLY unlikely to actually engage in terrorism. "Feeling under siege" isn't an excuse or justification for straight-up racism. There's something quite rotten in a society that allows this type of discrimination. It's not a rational reaction to the danger posed by Israeli CITIZENS of Arab heritage. Or have you learned nothing from the lesson of Japanese internment camps?12-17-10 Mohamed Bouazizi NEVER FORGET

There's a difference between racism provoked by experiences imposed upon someone and racism provoked by experiences you imposed
First off, on the victimization scale I think it's a bit ridiculous to compare Jews in the ME over the last 60 years to blacks in America. Israel is, and has been for quite some time, able to impose its will on the Arab states as well as on Arabs in the occupied territories. Inside Israel, it's pretty obvious who's been getting the short end of the stick.
Secondly, this is not a question about racist ATTITUDES of individuals. This is a question about racism as allowed (encouraged?) by a government and a society as a whole.12-17-10 Mohamed Bouazizi NEVER FORGET

Anyway, funny to see the ***** on thread who immediately assume the girl was from Palestine and therefore its ok to discriminate against her. Both for the not bothering to read that she was an Isreali citizen (Jim Crow FTW!) and for thinking a one year old from Palestine should be shunned because of other Palestinians (guilt by association FTW!)“I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”

I think that opinion in the United States is decidedly different from the rest of the world because we have a free press -- by free, I mean a virgorously presented right wing point of view on the air and available to all.- Ned

Kuci, you know better than this. Is this a deliberate troll in which you feign ignorance to see what comes out of the woodwork? Because on its own, this is an absolutely false justification for doing the wrong thing. The Arab citizens of Israel have the same rights as the non-Arabs (read: Jews) theoretically, but the process is "separate and unequal." The little girl is one more victim and the adults around her are citizens of Israel, NOT Pal. "terrorists."No matter where you go, there you are. - Buckaroo Banzai
