What I don't understand is why people open threads they know they won't like just to **** all over them. It doesn't take a tremendous act of willpower to just not post. "Oh boy a religion thread started by an atheist, time for some hit-and-run thread****ting!"
You made a solid argument so I replied. I don't think I've been disrespectful, and I apologise if I have.

I was referring to Sloww. I wanted to discourage you posting here because you aren't interested in learning anything because you already know everything, which places any dialogue with you on an uneven footing. But you've been respectful in your dogmatism so I have no justification for requesting that you **** off.

Wether the translation is true or false, It doesn't really matter - they describe the gods in a proper way, wich certainly isn't like the christian god. Since they are older, they must be true - especially since there are a direct path.

About your claim that there is a clear translation between greek, latin and english, well
With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.

You could be talking about yourself. No one here starts a Believe In Religion or Burn In Hell thread. It's always asswipes that don't believe that act like they're on a crusade. So screw you and your "referring to" bull****.

Sorry, that's an "antimiracle" more difficult to support than the miracle it's supposed to refute.
Yes, I see now how a conspiracy of 16 men (or, any other reasonable explanation) is much less statistically reasonable than a miracle where a dead person comes back to life, and ascends to heaven to get his rightful place as the son of god, in a unique event than had never occurred before and hasn't ever occurred since.

I mean, hey, let's face it - conspiracies are rare.

And conspiracies in which 16 perfectly and uniquely placed people are willing to sacrifice their lives (literally or figuratively) to foment a fake resurrection of no benefit to themselves (if they live they'll be galley slaves or some such) makes so much sense? That's what I call grasping at straws.

Christianity isn't based on "this is statistically guaranteed" but on "this is what we saw, and heard, and touched." I became a Christian because it is real here and now. I saw prayers answered, and people healed, and recognized that it was about relationship, not philosophy or impersonal powers.

Christ is risen, and I have proof in my life. If you are too cool to seek truth in your life, but rather trust in a retconned hexadecimo-fecta, I feel sorry for you.

Faith can't be proven. It can be supported though.

Of Jesus? No scientist or historian doubt Jesus' historical existence. His existence is beyond doubt. What is in doubt, is of course whether he was the Messiah or not. That can't be proven, only believed through faith alone.

Until I get proof his vitals restarted on resurrection we'll have too agree to disagree.

Can you explain this prayers answered bit? Did god change his plan to answer the prayers?

What about the prayers that go unanswered? Does god not give a **** about those people?

I guess that was my biggest problem. Some Woman is rambling on about how she lost something and prayed to god to help her find it and when she finds it praises god for helping her. Millions of children are dying from disease and starvation every day and God spent his time helping this woman finding a trinket. So the women claims that finding her trinket is proof that god exists. Hmmmm. If any prayer being answered or any other miracle is proof/reinforcement that God exists, then I refuse to worship a god that will answer those prayers while letting all those children die. What a crappy God.

So please tell me how your faith was supported while more children die.
