They had everything to gain by denying him. By proclaiming him, they accepted crucifixion, suffering and hardship.

They gained by being important. To deny would have made them losers. Think of the groupies. Back then they didn't have to promise celibacy. Hookers are mentioned in their writings. SWEEET.

How would they have been more famous if they walked away. Without them, there would be no church to honor them.

If you give up on what you believe in, you're a loser or you really didn't believe it.


Being high holy men is quite the mojo for sinful women. Jesus had MM washing his feet. ANd the rumors fly from that one. Do you think that if Jesus did her, that his good buds wouldn't have covered for him. Anyone that bases their beliefs from the scrawlings from a group of guys that got together to drink and party can't totally rule out that they may have just made some of that **** up. To think otherwise is just plain silly.

That's assuming you believe that the church will be victorious. If you believed that then chances are you believed every word written in the Gospels. I can't honestly see why they would have any motivation to lie and fabricate their own beliefs and to suffer for the same beliefs.

How do you decide? Faith. While I can understand your Faith, I'm just saying just because you claim there were eye witnesses, that really doesn't prove anything. It could have been the greatest hoax ever pulled off.

If me and a bunch of friends got together and got drunk or did massive amounts of drugs and wrote up the mythos for a religion would you believe in it 1000 years from now. Hmmm wait, that's how a lot of religions got started.
