I still don't see why you are comparing it to spring break. Spring break doesn't make me respect college kids, in fact it does the complete opposite. So, I guess I'm just an ageist now too though.

gee people going crazy, showing off sexually, having fun, and booze is usually involved. I don't see any similarities at all.

And older people making fun of youngsters is the norm. But then I'm an ageist also.

There are no good things that come out of spring breaks, which isn't the same for gay pride parades.

Well that's something we can probably say doesn't come from gay pride parades.

IN the sorority, that my daughter joined at school, they have a celebration when one of their members reaches 20 without being pregnant showing that they beat the odds regarding teenage pregnacies. I joked with my daughter about this when she turned 20.

For the record, I want to make sure everyone knows that I did not accuse Japher or anyone else who has negative reservations about gay pride of being homophobic.

There are plenty of out gay people who are comfortable self-accepting but do not like/appreciate gay pride for whatever reasons.

But, there are some in here who are focusing entirely on the extreme sexual excesses that a minority of gay men engage in during gay pride. They ignore the positive purposes and effects of gay pride events.
