But if you're getting paid for your writing (trade journals, magazines, Web, etc.), the universal standard is one space.
    Same.

I do a fair amount of writing just like JRabbit does, and my clients all take one space.

I think I was taught this in typing class. I'm so old, and my school system was so poor I learned to type on manual type writers (this was the 80's btw). We only had 2 electrics in our class, rest were manuals. iirc they taught us to use 2.

But ever since then (since I got in high school) I never heard to use 2.

You're old? MY typing class had first use of the IBM Selectric electric typewriter.
The other class used the manual machines.

2 dammit!  It makes things easier to read.  Especially if you're ending a sentence with an abbreviated word or acronym.

2! All the writer's guides (Strunk and White, et al) specify 2 although some acknowledge that web-specific materials may allow flexibility.

1, even then. The chisel was a lot harder to use than a pen or keypad, and I still used one.

That was when I was with Moses though, not Noah.
