As for the bit about the origins of "love," I didn't get that from Wiki at all. I got it from a Medieval Lit class focusing on the origins and development of "courtly love." The whole concept started out as a half-assed justification for adultery and got whitewashed later.
And yet... the Greeks never created homosexual marriage. When they wanted their homosexual lover to have inheritance rights and the like, one adopted the other as a son.

Yeah, and after raising all that awareness STILL no one cares.

I think some people wrote letters to Martin Luther King Jr. while he was in jail, saying that he should be more "patient" and that people were not "ready" for the changes he was demanding. That politicians could face serious backlash if they agreed to King's insistence on civil rights protection. So it is with the current civil rights struggle of gays and lesbians - there is no time like the present to make our case and to defend our dignity against bigots.

It's not a matter of people not being ready. It's a matter of your struggle really not being that important in the grand scheme of things.

      • I think plenty of people believe human rights and civil rights are important in the grand scheme of things.

                    • And than we can have a new gay BK thread.

I would prefer if this one kept to below 500 posts.

                        • I'll host the thread next time.

That way you can really have a gay BK thread.

And thanks for resurrecting this one, again Ming.
