Downloading & Trying Windows 7 Beta Public

I can't say from first-hand experience that Windows 7 beta is an improvement or not over Vista, since I haven't used Vista extensively. But so far Win7 has been pretty solid. Took me a little while to get my MBP to work properly WRT the graphics card, multitouch and the keyboard. Also for some reason Windows rate my data transfer speed as a 1.
Not a complaint specific to Win7, but WTF is up with IE? The interface is a mess.

Well, so much for the stable beta. It's amazing how good it is for such an early beta, but don't try playing games on it.
First time I loaded up Col2, it played allright. But whenever I open up the game now, I get either a bluescreen and a restart or just a sudden restart. But simple use like surfing works like a charm. I like what I see.

I actually love Vista.
I've actually installed it on 3 machines so far.
I love the security features on it even though they were a bit of a pain in the ass to work around at first. The SPs made Vista that much better. No viruses, no spyware crap, none of that BS. Anything that tries to mess around with my PC has to ask for permission to move **** around
I've had exactly one BSOD since I've installed it. Usually if it locks up I can shut down the offending program without a restart. It's way more stable then XP.
The biggest problem for me is the lack of support for DOS games and having to play around with things to get any game to work.
If Microsoft wants to give me something that would make me happy, it would be to have a built in 'dos' mode which allows you to play DOS games without the need for a third party program like DOSbox.
Most unstable program? IE for some reason locks up more then anything else. Not sure what the issues are there...Scouse Git (2) La Fayette Adam Smith Solomwi and Loinburger will not be forgotten.

Win7? No. It's pretty stable for such an early version, but it's still a beta, and an early one at that. It seems to work good with surfing and such easy tasks, but don't try gaming or, on some computers at least, play videos. It'll crash the computer pretty bad.

I've not experienced any crashes, either through regular web browsing or gaming (LOTRO). Despite this, I would be hesitant to make it my primary OS, since the beta runs out in August and IIRC you won't be able to simply upgrade from the beta to the retail version.

Can I install Win7 as a second OS (the first partition has WinXP) on a system without optical drive.
I want to mount the image on the running and copy the files to the partition where I am going to install Win7 and run the installation from there. Will this work?Quendelie axan!
