A question about the differences between conservatives and liberals
You could just give us the answer you are thinking about.
Otherwise, we'll just descend into sillyness as every thread in the OT eventually does.
“I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”
- John 13:34-35 (NRSV)
Well, I was hoping for a few of the more insufferable liberals to whine their opinions.
Based upon previous 'discussions' at poly, I noted that the more "liberal-minded" the poster, the less likely they were to identify that Jessups fault was his lack of honour and they were more likely to cite Jessups order of the "code red", either because it was illegal or immoral.
On the stand, Jessup rages on about honour and Tom Cruise characters lack of it, but in fact he has none himself. Jessup should not have allowed the two young marines to become the sole scapegoats for what was a failure by all. Jessup's second in command "fell on his sword" in atonement, so should Jessup have done.
So I guess I should re-phrase the question, are liberals less likely to understand honour?
So in the conservative mind, his fault was not to "fall on his sword"?
I'm consitently stupid- Japher I think that opinion in the United States is decidedly different from the rest of the world because we have a free press -- by free, I mean a virgorously presented right wing point of view on the air and available to all.- Ned

I guess... which is kinda ****ed up.
I'd hope conservatives may be concerned that he... you know, broke the law and all.

I'd argue that conservatives are more interested in if you broke the law rather than disgracing yourself. This ain't Japan.

Yeah, which is why I don't think your differentiation makes any sense. 'Cause I think conservatives as well as liberals would say his worst act was to think of himself above the law or to break the law.
After all, Ben Kenobi is no stinkin' liberal , and that was his answer.

If so, is it due to a mental deficiency or lack of worldy experience?
You throw this in and expect me to take you seriously?

I see it more that liberals and conservatives both recognize that it is (usually) wrong to break the law but only conservatives pick up on the lack of honour aspect.
EDIT to finish the thought
..... lack of honour aspect and view it as an important feature of the whats wrong.
It reminds me of the Police song "Every breath you take", the meaning of which often differentiates between men and women.

I wasn't so concerned about the code red, but about this part.
I have a greater responsibility than you can possibly fathom.
As for me being a conservative, I've always scored almost exactly the same as Imran on the compass. So FWIW, take that assessment with a grain of salt.

In what respect? I'd agree with Jessups statement. It explains the basis for his decision to order the code red depite his knowledge that it was illegal (that and his arrogance of course).

I guess Arrian's a conservative now (again)?

I think everyone (well most people who pay attention) these days realizes it is about a stalker.
