But no one even tries to defend 9/11 truthers.

Come on now, you aren't even trying. Clearly if genocidal doesn't fit think of something else.

I'm not defending it, I'm explaining. People believe in far more BS things than HIV being bio engineered or 9/11 being a government plot, religion for the obvious example.
Christianity: The belief that a cosmic Jewish Zombie who was his own father can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him you accept him as your master, so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a rib-woman was convinced by a talking snake to eat from a magical tree...

Not as much as people who believe in god but if you want to define "little touched in the head" like that sure.

Edit: yes he also probably believes in god too being rev, but that is the more irrational belief here

I'm upset with Obama's choice for a speaker, but I am not calling Obama a bigot.

This inaugural is going to have extreme contrasts - Obama is having a gay and lesbian band marching and participating directly in the parade, and in turn, he's having an anti-gay evangelical speak at this event.

                        • I think he's saying that you've articulated an idea that anyone who doesn't back gay marriage is a bigot. Obama doesn't back gay marriage, ergo... bigot.

i'm sorry, i know that i should usually pay attention to your internal forum cliques, but during the past few weeks it's been too much effort

it's just so pathetic, people spending a gigantic amount of effort creating status and supporting the status their RL friends, even if it means falsifying reality

the point was that IF kuci were such an expert on hi-virus as he apparently presumes himself to be, THEN he would realize even in casual conversation that repeatedly referring to it as "aids virus" is incorrect and misleading and would mentally, automatically correct himself even before writing it down. i pointed this out without naming any names because i wanted to note kuci that he isn't such an expert (because i wanted him not to have false delusions about his knowledge, id est i wanted to help him). i also tried to be a bit discreet about it, not naming any names, not posting the correction immediately after the names, or making fun of kuci, because i fundamentally dislike forum drama.

but no. simple correction isn't enough. because you are kuci's rl friend or dislike me, you have to jump on every correction of his mistakes and start defending them in order to criticize (as you just admitted, i think it's awesome that you yourself admit that your motive in giving a possible explanation for kuci's mistake was to contradict or criticize me.) people who point out mistakes kuci has made.

****ing retarded flame-fights over social status on an internet forum. the only thing i can do is to at this idiocy.

                              • and yes, confusing that syndrome with that virus is a metonymy. no, it doesn't change the point that confusing the two doesn't indicate particularly deep expertise on either of them.

thus, pointing out that it's a metonymy is a ****ing retarded point to make in that context
