You get 70,000 if you use quotes around it, and most seem to refer to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Strong_Democracy which is a STUB about a term invented to differentiate between direct democracies and 'thin' (representative) democracies in 1984.

"Strong Democracy" in the way you use it is similar to how the Democratic Peace Theory proponents differentiate between democracies that support their argument and those that aren't 'real democracies' and thus don't support their arguments. Either way it's a meaningless term used to weasel out of arguments that your theory is crap.
You conservatives literally live in your own little world. Don't you even hear people when they talk?

This is an article talking about how we need better education to build a stronger democracy. Is this what you're talking about?

The irony! It is killing me!

The even more amusing part is if you put quotes around "weak democracy", you get only 10,300 matches. And it seems most of those articles are about fragile democracies that are under threat of being taken over by a dictator or fundamentalists (like Pakistan).

It's not only conservatives in this thread who disagree with you, Mr. Clueless; there are liberals such as myself who see that Imran is right.

Have you ever, ever admitted at least once in your life that you were wrong in an argument and give the other guy a thumbs up when he has clearly made good points??

In this thread, you just kept going and going and all it led you into was a deeper hole.

          • What I don't understand is people who think that where they live is so piss-poor, but stay.
I don't know whether they're lazy or stupid. Maybe both.

This is about as dumb as it was for white people to tell black abolitionists in 1850s why don't they leave and emigrate from United States if they were not happy with their status in United States.

Blacks often found this really, really insulting. United States is the only country that they knew; the language, the culture, the idealistic values, and so forth.

Today, to tell gays and lesbians to high-tail it to another country is just as insulting. This is the only country that I have ever known, jackass, that is why I'm staying.

In spite of the civil rights struggle I hope to become more involved in today, I still would love to continue living in this country because this is the culture, language and so forth I grew up with and where my roots are.

              • As you know, I maintain slavery would have been to a natural end in 5 years. Making 4 years of war and millions of lives lost rather pointless.

As for gaydom, it's much better than it used to be in the U.S., which is good. It was another generality, and I have no truck for generalities.

Because they'd rather work to make where they live better than run and hide like pussies. Duh.

                  • Of course gays and lesbians are much better than we were, say, fifty years ago in United States.

Doesn't mean we have reached full equality yet. And it certainly doesn't mean I'm going to give up the fight by fleeing from my only home country.

Seedle, I'm talking about people like Kid or Che, who seemingly have nothing good to say about the USA.

Ah, you were posting your comment toward them.

But same thing, I guess - this is their home country as well. The things they love about this country goes along with the things they hate about it.

I take you haven't been reading what BK thinks passes for "intelligent argument" in my Prop. 8 thread and in the gay and atheist marriage thread, have you?

Nope. And I'm ok with it.

Che gets a general too, also not having read this thread.
