Oh? I never heard you saying that the 1500 point rise was a dead cat bounce, which is exactly what I said.
I didn't take you for one of those 'happy days are here again' folks.
I'm sure if it was a 900 point rise, that you'd be attributing the rise to Obama's election...
What the stock market does from day to day usually means absolutely nothing about future economic growth. It's a measure of equity strength, something that is not related to the cause of the crisis we are in. Blaming Obama for this and using the fact that the market went down when he won the election shows how little you know about all of this. Of course we already knew as much by your arguments regarding the real estate market.

Worst ever of any president in the history of the republic.
How's that for hope and change?
That's the change I can believe in.
Kid lecturing me on economics? That's rich. If you were DanS, you'd have a point.

I guess the entire stock market is as stupid as him and therefore was pricing in the likelihood of a McCain victory, not the overwhelming probability of an Obama victory.
Seriously, what the **** is with the drop over the past two days? Were investors really stupid enough to think McCain had a shot?
That can't be true. Must be coincidence or some other explanation...
Now, if McCain had won in a shocker then you might have expected a big movement (up or down? I have no clue). Possibly. In reality, investors generally don't tend to think that the Prez really has much influence on equity values. Might be slightly less true in this environment.
But he's not the president. Isn't that fact at all relevant to the issue?
He's not going to tell you the truth, which is that he believes that whatever conservatives think will become reality. He thinks everyone who owned stocks thinks that Obama will cause the apocalypse so it must be true.

The market is more afraid of what extreme leftest Democrats in the House will, come up with . Most of the moderate Republicans getting the axe in the Senate where fiscal conservatives, so there is less of chance of the Senate moderating what the House does. And there is zero chance of veto.
The extreme leftest Democrats come from the safest districts there are, so have accumulated the most seniority and are running the committes. Take a look at what they have in store for your 401k, a plan that will decimate the market as it puts your 401k in government bonds and gives limited tax deductibility if you choose to remain in non-government 401k. The 401k is one of the reasons for the steeper stock market growth curve that began in '80s. With all those funds leaving the market; the market is going to have a rough time maintaining the level its at, let alone return to challenge previous highs.
Again, why were investors so stupid that they didn't look at any polls over the last year? The House, Senate and Presidential races all went pretty much how every reasonable political observer predicted. Why didn't the results get priced in ahead of time?
