Hopefully people will ask you what it is. Continually.

            • Why wasn't this an issue for Chrétien, but one for Dion?

              • That was an issue, it was mocked endlessly.

Fortunately for him, the right was fractured at the time.

Rather than putting Francophones with demonstrable stupidity and failures with the English language, has it occurred to the liberals to put someone competent in power?

                  • If Quebec is really asking Canadians to kick them out of Canada altogether, that's the way to do it.

I can't believe Quebeckers would vote out Harper because he insisted on cutting arts funding. I think French is a wonderful language and I speak it myself, but French doesn't need a cane to walk. Why do you assume that French is a language for cripples that needs government assistance to survive?

If Quebec wants to be relevant they would ditch the Bloc. Instead, they are going to be more and more marginalised. I don't see any cabinet ministers that will be from Quebec at all, since Quebec has made their position clear.

The funny part is that Harper doesn't even need you anymore. He nearly won a majority without any support from Quebec. Give him another 20 in Ontario and there you go, Majority government, no representation from Quebec necessary.

Plus don't forget the West and Ontario will be getting more seats.

No one cares about that. Not even the French.

I'd be more than happy if we were kicked out of Canada. Unfortunately, last time we checked, it sounds like most of us don't.

It was part of the reason, but not the whole story.
The main conservative gaffe - have you even heard about it? - is when Michael Fortier (the non-elected senator-minister) undertook an aggressive campaign about the democratic legitimacy of the Bloc.
Duceppe took the bait and ran like: WTF??? a non-elected minister bull****ting about our legitimacy???
That was the homerun of his campaign - he climbed from 32-34% to 40-42.

Bull**** and you know it. Since Mulroney's constitutional failure, every Québécois politician in Ottawa has adopted the "tough on Quebec stance". That's the only way to cater to the anglophone electorate.

For most Québécois, "being relevant" is a lot more than having a few puppets in the Cabinet.

In the next election, the liberals will most likely have a competent leader. Don't dream too much.

The Quebecois clearly have no idea what "being relevant" means. It's the most irrelevant province and irrelevant citizen-base of the entire country by far.

Don't get me wrong, I'd rather have Quebec in rather then out, but most of the time the whining really bothers people. You recieve more then your share of equalisation. Most of the supreme court justices are Quebecois, and if anyone questions that, they get lambasted. How is Quebec mistreated in Canada?

It was part of the reason, but not the whole story.
The main conservative gaffe - have you even heard about it? - is when Michael Fortier (the non-elected senator-minister)
I disagreed with that too, because I believe in Senate Reform. You'd be surprised Oncle, the party of Senate reform has been the Conservatives, and if you have an issue with Fortier, then you and the Reformers agree on something.

That being said, I think Harper should shaft Montreal and reward Quebec City. If Montreal wants to be represented by Liberals and Bloc, then fine, but they won't receive special favours. Fortier was Harper bending over backwards for Montreal, which has obviously backfired.

Duceppe took the bait and ran like: WTF??? a non-elected minister bull****ting about our legitimacy???

I don't understand the illegitimacy part. The question is one of relevance. If Quebec is for the Quebec party only, that's not very helpful to Quebec in general. Harper wasted lots of political capital in investing in Quebec, and now you'll see the other side of that when he only puts in what you guys gave him back.

Bull**** and you know it. Since Mulroney's constitutional failure, every Québécois politician in Ottawa has adopted the "tough on Quebec stance". That's the only way to cater to the anglophone electorate.
Which is why the Quebec people vote for the Quebec party only? You folks are spoiled, to be honest. The west was ignored, but now we aren't because we decided we wanted to be in rather then out.

Quebec voting for the Bloc is them being childish and saying they don't want to be a part of Canada as a whole.

For most Québécois, "being relevant" is a lot more than having a few puppets in the Cabinet.
Well sure, you folks have gotten the goodies. Time to cut you off and see how you feel you have been hard done by.

In the next election, the liberals will most likely have a competent leader. Don't dream too much.
I'd rather have more Quebec conservative MPs then fewer. If Quebec's message to Canada is that they don't want to be like the rest of Canada, then that's fine. They can have their own party.

Tough on Quebec would be 0, count them, 0 cabinet ministers. I very much hope he does that. More for us.
