    • She doesn't seem unintelligent to me, just profoundly ignorant and uninterested in rectifying that shortcoming. She's so ignorant she makes me look informed. So whatever intellect she has, it isn't the right type for the White House. Well, it is for our current administration, but that's the problem we're trying to fix.

But a stupid person wouldn't BS as smoothly as she did in the debate. S/he would fumble all over the place Dubya-style. And even he supposedly has a 125 IQ.

      • She BSed well here and there, but overall her BS was less convincing than W's in his prior debates.

        • Shrub only has a 125 IQ? Is that documented anywhere, or just a number pulled out of thin air?

              • Dubya is not actually stupid. He just doesn't use his brain well. He doesn't use it to question, generally. He figures out what he thinks is right, and that's that. No more inquiry. Charge!

SATs or IQs tests suck, largely for that reason. Aptitude isn't enough.

                  • Is it so wrong to want an intellectually curious person to be President?

I don't get this "regular guy" obsession. Would you want a regular guy performing a coronary bypass? Brain surgery? A vasectomy? Would you want a bunch of regular, average guys on your favorite football team? Apparently, they're trying that in Detroit this year.

                    • Yeah, I never agreed with those who thought he was dumb. Its like the intellectual thread. There are different levels of intelligence and being smart in one area doesn't mean you are in all areas.

Ignorant and stupid aren't the same thing (though they work together wonderfully). Willfully ignorant... hell, that's the worst. And that's Dubya.

I was using a pretty narrow (and some might argue, useless) definition of intelligence. He has an above-average IQ, apparently. As I was pointing out, that doesn't help us.

                              • Well, and in fairness, he DID get elected to the highest office in the land (once, or twice, depending on who you talk to).

That takes a certain kind of smarts that falls outside the definition you'd normally associate with IQ tests and such, so I get what he's saying.
