That amendment was defeated heavily by a bipartisan vote -- why? What are we missing that both republicans and democrats hated it?

It's still not anything like this:
That's Palin in 2006 in Ketchikan. She called the bridge "essential"."The issue is there are still many people out there that use religion as a crutch for bigotry and hate. Like Ben."
Ben Kenobi: "That means I'm doing something right. "

Despite that it's a sleazy way to get funding and DENYING any accountablitly for it by everyone, I still think you lose your high ground to mock people that supported it when you voted for it.It's almost as if all his overconfident, absolutist assertions were spoonfed to him by a trusted website or subreddit. Gee a Governor trying to get federal dollars for a state project. THE HORROR.
A politician backing down when public pressure is brought to bear. The HORROR. Just like Obama caved on that reform bill in Illinois last week. What a surprise.
Yes you are 100% correct, there is NO high ground in politics. It's almost as if all his overconfident, absolutist assertions were spoonfed to him by a trusted website or subreddit. Sheeple

"THANKS BUT NO THANKS FOR THE BRIDGE TO NOWHERE" is a far cry from saying it is "ESSENTIAL" and lobbying for it to be built."The issue is there are still many people out there that use religion as a crutch for bigotry and hate. Like Ben."

"Because, yes, they had a chance to vote specifically against the Bridge to Nowhere in Alaska to redirect the money to people, to bridges and infrastructure damaged by Hurricane Katrina going in to New Orleans, and they chose not to."
You are just an unbeliever when the facts don't fit your perception of reality aren't you? tsk tsk
(I didn't infer anything there did I? )"I am sick and tired of people who say that if you debate and you disagree with this administration somehow you're not patriotic. That does not come close to explaining why both Republicans and Democrats overwhelmingly voted it down. That's curious if all it was doing was rebuilding in a disaster area..."The issue is there are still many people out there that use religion as a crutch for bigotry and hate. Like Ben."

The horror is her blatantly lying at the first chance she got. And then repeatedly after.
Wow...sounds like nearly every other candidate out there to me.
Is that kinda like Obama saying he would take federal matching funds? Just curious...."I am sick and tired of people who say that if you debate and you disagree with this administration somehow you're not patriotic. And asher, if you had opened an Equal Time Laws thread in the OT, I wouldn't have closed it.It's almost as if all his overconfident, absolutist assertions were spoonfed to him by a trusted website or subreddit. Sheeple

It would've been spam in the OT. I already have my election thread there."The issue is there are still many people out there that use religion as a crutch for bigotry and hate. Like Ben."

I was thinking of a more generic thread where other posters could create campaign banners with logos and maybe an election at the end for everyone's favorite. It's almost as if all his overconfident, absolutist assertions were spoonfed to him by a trusted website or subreddit. Sheeple
