Wouldn't know, didn't read his posts. He is more than welcome to model himself after me.
But you also know if Agathon and I agree on something, it must be true.

I know what you meant, but the real problem is with America. You guys are the ones voting and being polled, and you guys can't figure out when one party is ****ing up your country when everyone else can see it.
Don't blame the DNC for that. It's all on you. You have the power to vote, use it wisely. Or don't. Whatever. I live in Canada, see if I care if you die from lack of health insurance or get attacked by terrorists in 10 years from now which remember when you attacked their country and want revenge...it's a familiar story.
I watched Obama's speech and if that and the rest of the convention didn't adjust the polls massively, there's nothing else to be done. The problem is in the people of the country itself. I imagine a huge chunk of that is religion still...
So what? That still doesn't change the fact that the DNC has a responsibility to both its constituency and the country at large to aggressively persuade even an intransigent or downright stupid public, and they're dropping the ball in that effort. The gloves have to come off.

You're saying nothing else can be done, but you're blaming all of us.
Also, you said Agathon was right.

Well, no, that doesn't follow, but if it pleases you to think that, fine.
Didn't watch Obama's speech, I'm sick of hearing about the damned election and I already know the man can talk. I'll probably vote for him mainly because McCain seems to have gone completely insane and I at least know Obama is intelligent. Not that it matters, since IIRC my state reliably goes blue anyway. Here's to the wonderful, disenfranchising Electoral College:
And, adding to what Darius says, it's pretty pitiful if a party can't persuade morons.

Did you read the post?
I made the case that they did aggressively try to persuade. But you're not going to persuade a populous too stupid to understand the message.

Why?
These morons associate republicans with patriotism (USA! USA! USA!) and fighting "them terrists". There's not much that can be done at this point. The dems have addressed this at their convention, but it didn't do a whole lot of good.
Some people are too stupid to live. It needs to be said. The most well-constructed argument will fail on the ears of Joe American, which wants to kill those towel-head sand******s in Iraq for attacking his country on 9/11.
It's sad, but it's ****ing true. Don't get upset when I say your country is filled with idiots, but you ****ing elected Bush in 2004 after 2000-2004. "Idiots" is putting it lightly. Criminally stupid is perhaps most accurate.

I know that's what you meant, but they can always try harder. Or even better, they could have been smart enough to nominate a less risky candidate in the first place, but that's in the past.
More importantly, as Elok pointed out, morans should be the easiest people to manipulate, not the hardest.

Tell me, how would you persuade the typical Bush-supporting "morans" to vote Dem? I find morons to be the hardest people to persuade because they're not interested in hearing something contrary to their thoughts.

Bribe them. Bribe them with rich non-morans' money until they can't resist. Even the most closed-minded and self-destructive morans still like free ****. That's why they all play the lottery.

nah.

I'm smart enough to know where you considered going with that. I do change my opinions when given satisfactory arguments to the contrary. It just so happens more of the time I'm right.
I used to be a fan of the republicans and trickle-down economic theory, and in Canada I was an Alberta separatist. You live, you learn, you re-evaluate...

You mean like giving them a middle class tax cut and national health care?

So you don't have any serious idea. Sounds to me like you didn't think through your argument.
It's not an intellectual thing. Do you think the 70% of the people voting for McCain in Alabama watched the democratic national convention? These people don't want to hear anything contrary to their internalized view of politics and the world.
I don't know why you think it's embarrassing that the dems don't have a 10%+ lead after the DNC given that most republicans didn't watch the damned thing to begin with, so why would that change their mind?
