So what? That still doesn't change the fact that the DNC has a responsibility to both its constituency and the country at large to aggressively persuade even an intransigent or downright stupid public, and they're dropping the ball in that effort. The gloves have to come off.

I'll probably vote for him mainly because McCain seems to have gone completely insane and I at least know Obama is intelligent. Not that it matters, since IIRC my state reliably goes blue anyway. These morons associate republicans with patriotism (USA! USA! USA!) and fighting "them terrists". There's not much that can be done at this point. The dems have addressed this at their convention, but it didn't do a whole lot of good.

Some people are too stupid to live. It needs to be said. The most well-constructed argument will fail on the ears of Joe American, which wants to kill those towel-head sand******s in Iraq for attacking his country on 9/11.

I know that's what you meant, but they can always try harder. Or even better, they could have been smart enough to nominate a less risky candidate in the first place, but that's in the past.

More importantly, as Elok pointed out, morans should be the easiest people to manipulate, not the hardest.

It's not an intellectual thing. Do you think the 70% of the people voting for McCain in Alabama watched the democratic national convention? These people don't want to hear anything contrary to their internalized view of politics and the world.

I don't know why you think it's embarrassing that the dems don't have a 10%+ lead after the DNC given that most republicans didn't watch the damned thing to begin with, so why would that change their mind?
