It's not really that I hated it, but how could you qualify Disco 'music', after you'd heard Deep Purple, Pink Floyd, The Doors or The Stones?
Disco is more like Santa music compared to the real stuff.

Problem here is people who were not around during the Disco days do not "know" the difference

Here is a small taste of EW & F:

                      SEPTEMBER

                      BOOGIE WONDERLAND

                      AFTER THE LOVE HAS GONE

                      FANTASY

THATS THE WAY OF THE WORLD

So as you can see, no way they were disco although they performed during the disco days..as did the Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Eric Clapton, CCR to name a few

That particular song was though, even if a bit tounge in cheek. There's a reason for the dance beat and the band playing with mirrored balls. Also a reason other new wave bands called them sell outs over it.

As I said earlier, I was indifferent to disco, but quite liked a lot of music that was somewhat to strongly influenced by it.

Coke goes pretty well with all sorts of things depending on the tastes of the beholder.

I'd also add that 'Heart of Glass' was evidence that rock bands can deploy musical devices of other genres to show the superior quality of their song-writing.

Earth, Wind, & Fire had disco songs and were definitely influenced by (and influencing) other artists who were more explicitly disco. All good artists have cross-over appeal and are genre-benders. Take Prince for example who had songs that could be considered pop, songs that could be considered rock, soul, and even rap. EW&F had obviously disco songs like "Let's Groove", along with songs of other genres.

Tell me that's not disco. It's a little slow but still.
