A question to posters who were "young" in the late 70's

It's not really that I hated it, but how could you qualify Disco 'music', after you'd heard Deep Purple, Pink Floyd, The Doors or The Stones?

I hated it (still do) but my wife liked it so I went to clubs that played it.
BTW: Earth Wind and Fire were not disco. Not ****in ever!
And neither was Debra Harry dammit!!We need seperate human-only games for MP/PBEM that dont include the over-simplifications required to have a good AI

As I said earlier, I was indifferent to disco, but quite liked a lot of music that was somewhat to strongly influenced by it.

I'd also add that 'Heart of Glass' was evidence that rock bands can deploy musical devices of other genres to show the superior quality of their song-writing.

Earth, Wind, & Fire had disco songs and were definitely influenced by (and influencing) other artists who were more explicitly disco. All good artists have cross-over appeal and are genre-benders. Take Prince for example who had songs that could be considered pop, songs that could be considered rock, soul, and even rap. EW&F had obviously disco songs like "Let's Groove", along with songs of other genres.
Tell me that's not disco. It's a little slow but still.
