Yes, becuase they don't want to be pushed around by you, so they wanted to make sure there was American hardware in their country.

Not when Iran tested its new generation of ballistic missiles, not when Iran increased its capability to produce a radioactive material, but when Russia responded to Georgian agression vs. the South Ossetia.

Right, who the **** do you think we are to believe that this shield is aimed vs. Iran, not Russia? You think we will buy the bullsh!t that this missiles do not posses any threat to us?
If you are a bunch of brainless morons whose brains have been totally ****ed by your propaganda, that doesn't mean we are too.

Look at a ****ing globe. If Russia launched a bunch of ICBMs at the US, where do you think they would go? Over Poland? Hell no. The missiles fly over the Arctic.

    It's just rocket science.

    • They are proposing to put 10 interceptor missles in Poland compared to 5,000 russian balistic warheads!

It doesn't serve a direct military purpose wrt them, of course (though they idiotically insist it does). What it does is help start a real military commitment between the US and Poland.
well to be frank, it does create a powerful military post on polish soil that can

        a) gather russian information using various radars, sensors, and humint (excellent reason to have military attaches).
        b) better gather information regarding russian action in east europe
        c) slowly build up more capabilities against russia as well
        d) even stronger western shield over poland, that falls into the russian spehere of interest.

        • One of MSN's headlines just reported that Shrub officially "warned" Russia re: the contested provs. (they are apparently REALLY behind the curve).

So if they attack again during the next 12 months, we'll have a CB on them?

          Cool.

Americans are clearly the stupidest people on the planet, by a long way. Even dead people buried at the bottom of swamps aren't as retarded as you guys. Your whole country is full of fail.
Americans should mind their own business. Then again, Russia should mind their own as well...

There's one example of a country the US took over by force. Do you really want the full list, you mindless dope?
Man, the Philippines were forced upon the Unites States. At first the government didn't really know what do to when they inherited the country from the puny Spaniards. On top of that it was the Philippines who declared war.

              Poor example.

Yeah, the Russians really screwed up. The eastern-Europeans are now certain to choose the western side. The Russian surely must have anticipated that. Maybe they realized they couldn't win the goodwill in the coming years anyway, so resorted to bullying (cf. the many disputes with eastern-european countries over the past few years)

Perhaps all part of their master plan

I don't think you understand... the missile shield is completely ineffective. Tests proved it has trouble shooting down even a handful of incomming missiles... Russia has what, thousands?

The next question then is: why has the US even bothered pumping all that money in the star wars missile defense

The more budget money you use, the more budget money you can get. This, and also kickbacks.

Because Bush is an idiot. (Note the answer to this question is also a valid answer for many things that have happened in the last couple years.)

                            • Attacking Georgia under the cover of the Olympics was not smart on Russia's part. It will definitely strain relations between Moscow and Beijing.

                              • Ummm, Post #123.

Why wouldn't a country want to invest in shooting down a nuclear tipped missile? Sure, the stations can't shoot down a couple hundred missiles at once, but in the future they could maybe shoot down a dozen, or 20, or 40. If a country such as Poland could stop even one nuke, wouldn't that be worth something?
