    BS.
How can't you understand the simple fact that provoking Georgians was not in the interest of a single Ossetian, because they perfectly knew that Sukashvili is looking for a pretext to conquer them? Isn't it clear that not a single Ossetian wanted a Georgian invasion to South Oseetia, because that means destruction of SO, deaths of their people and devastation of their LAND?
You think Ossetians are somekind of silly prostitutes who are ready to sacrifice their motherland and lives of their loved ones for Russian interests?
And what Russian interests? Damn, this whole issue is a big pain in the ass for us, to be honest. We have no benefit in protecting them, but we can't left them, because that's just plain wrong.
If we hadn't intervene the Georgians would simple conquer them and killed much, much more.
    IS THAT WHAT YOU WANTED?

It would also leave Georgia in a position to freely join NATO the EU, and pursue a foreign policy independent ofRussian interests. Russia couldn't tolerate such an occurance in its backyard.

Independent reporting is starting to prove that your claims are so much bull**** and I'm suprised you still feel the need to rpeat the lies you've been attempting to get us to swallow since this conflct began.

      • Unity in NATO, Bush couldn't accomplish it. Good job Putin.

I'm just stunned by the tough stand of Germany and France on this as evidenced by their announcements today. I take back some of the stuff I said about them.

Then you better be ready for a WW3. No kidding.

We'll put US/NATO forces on the border with South Ossetia and if your puppets use their artillery on our boys, we'll be the ones to invade the place.
Oh really? Why? Why you can intervene when your soldiers are dying, but we can't do the same?

Georgian forces launched a major offensive vs. the South Ossetia. They bombarded SO villages and capital and THEY KILLED TEN Russian PEACEKEEPERS in first day of their agression. The rest of our peace keeping forces (500 soldiers) were under Georgian fire and they were outnumbered 15:1. That was pretty clear they can't stand long and need help.

If those were US peacekeepers would you intervene?
Let's left aside for a second the fact that Georgians started to massacre civilians and talk only about the military folks.
Would you send help to your peacekeepers in such situation or you just did nothing and let them die?

            Good for them!
This 18th, Lancer. I expect my electric bill about that day, but it's arrival is hardly magical.

Russia said they would withdraw before. I'm asking, why is the 18th the magic date? Why then, and why should anyone believe it?

              • I hope it doesn't come to WW3, that would be bad.

This has been answered to you so many times that I don't think it would help to do it once more.

When Russia pulls out and folks like Human Rights Watch and the UN go in, they will determine the truth of what occured. Let them do their job Serb, and see what happens. I'll tell you this... If they find that Georgia attacked South Ossetia without provocation then my personal support will switch to South Ossetia. Russia needs to pull out and make its case in the UN.

Once again, if Georgia will try conquer South Ossetia and Abkhazia again, they'll get the same response from Russia, no matter is it a NATO member or not.
My guess that they could try it again is based on their previous attempts do so.
The South Ossetia and Abkhazia clearly do not want to be a part of Georgia (esp. after what Sukashvili done to South Ossetia recently) and should be independent.

I know this treaty has been in the works for years but giving Russia's down right criminal behavior in recent weeks can you really blame the Poles and Ukrainians for wondering about Russia's intentions?
I don't give a ***** about Poland. But if you want to split Ukraine - go ahead, accept them in NATO.

When? When we appointed an exact date for our withdrawal? We said we will quit as long as cease-fire treaty we'll take effect.

Because today the cease-fire treaty took its legal power. All sides of the conflict and mediators approved it.

It appears we'll have to just to prevent Russia from doing another land grab.

Now I get it. "We'll withdraw", and as he turns away he mutters under his breath "when all the Georgians are dead"?

                              • One consequence of this, the Rufus list of safe places to be deployed is getting rather thin methinks.
