Makes no sense, because in reality we had two vodka smelling drunks beat each other with the same damn nerf bats.
So?
Ummm, yeah, like I said mostly old crappy Soviet/Russian equipment.

ARE RUSSIAN DESIGNS???
AS for their tanks, they were upgraded by the Israelis:
Besides, most of the Eastern European newly NATO members rely on the Soviet designs standardized with NATO.
I believe Georgian military had more western equipment and more Georgian soldiers have been trained by Americans, then say Polish (at least in % terms).
All that means it the barracks had roofs, indoor toilets, and non dirt floors, unlike their Russian counterparts.
You Americans just can't fight, therefore you can't teach anyone how to fight more or less good, not to mention to fight good enough to beat the Russians.
All you can do is to gather an owerwhelming force of your allies to beat such military powerhouses as Yugoslavia, Iraq or tribal Afghanistan.
Suckers. And cowards. And hypocrites. And cowards and suckers again.
I hope you'll have a nice day now, after you faced the truth.
ORLY?
T-62s asside, the fact that you still have T-72s doing anything other than gathering dust in museums is lauchable in its own right.
T-72 is a fine tank when it is upgraded with modern electronics, reactive armor, ammo, etc.
Seriously? Did you just actually say this?Last edited by Serb; August 22, 2008, 15:24.

2) You probably missed this part of my post:
"You trained them and suplied them with your harware, but it's true that the bulk of their weaponry is of Soviet origin. Just like the Polish army or other East European members of NATO. Still, before their humilating defeat the Georgian Armed Forces have been seen as a modern and well-trained force, the most battle ready force among all ex-Soviet republics. "
But it's really easy, just go to wikipedia:
Check my reply to Patro and see how many of that equipment is of Soviet/Russian origin.
How much air support did they have?
What was the tank vs tank ratio?
How many Georgian troops in SO proper?
Basically, they've been ****ed by superior firepower and training.
Case closed.
When did the "defeat" happen?
Or do you consider their strategic retreat to Tbilisi a rout?
When you do a strategic retreat you don't left a over 1/4 of your entire tank forces to the enemy.
We captured, once again - captured (in perfect condition) not destroyed 65 Georgian tanks and a sh!tload of their other hardware.
That was stampede, not a "strategic retreat".
What would YOU have done, militarily speaking, in their shoes, facing an assault on your capital and a potential occupation/"regime change"?
I know this keeps your laundry machine busy, but dude, this is GEORGIA we're talking about, which you supposedly defeated "easily".
Now you gonna say that Georgia wasn't defeated at all?
Have you seen how their supreme commander Sukashvili "browned" his fancy aggressor's pants and later chewed his tie in panic?
Man, his military have been uterly ****ed, if we wanted to hang him we would take Tbilisi and hang him. The ****er knew that, as well as there are no more glorious Georgian army (at least as an organized force)to protect his sorrow arse.

Serb, no matter how you try to spin it...and you don't spin it well...it is no big accomplishment to beat a 37,000 man army when you have absolute control of the sky and an overwhelming advantage in artillery and armour.
There is no doubt that similarly equipped and with equal numbers, the Georgians would have kicked the Ruskie butt.
The Russian military has one thing going for it...it has more stuff than its neighbors. If they were to fight a real enemy, they would fold up like a lawn chair."I am sick and tired of people who say that if you debate and you disagree with this administration somehow you're not patriotic. Wait a second, they are still kicking your butt, without the similar equipment or numbers.

Firstly, I never made a claim about current US involvement in Iraq and Afghanistan. I would point out though that the Iraqi military folded rather quickly and a comparison to a military assault versus an occupation is quite ludicrous...but I guess that is all you have. I would also like to point out that the US is doing much better than Russia did in Afghanistan, but that does explain where you got the "run away with tails between their legs" statement.
Further, let me also point out that it took your mighty army 5 days to break the measley little force Georgia had while having complete control of the skys and heavily outgunning them. Your own points show how woeful the Russian military really is!"I am sick and tired of people who say that if you debate and you disagree with this administration somehow you're not patriotic. I think his point, PLATO, is that we had massive superiority in arms, control of the sky, etc. in Iraq. Ergo, similar to Russia's advantages in Georgia.
Why I care to make this distinction is beyond me. 4:30 on a friday, baby. You may now continue the measuring contest.
