As Olympic ceremonies go, this was better than most. I can't say I usually like them, and I think the word "symbolizes" ought to be banned from them (as in the kind of "this group of gyrating homosexuals symbolizes the openness of our country, and this bunch of brightly-dressed, hopping children symbolizes our commitment to fairness" bull**** that is the usual fare). Ban symbolization and the Olympics would be a better place.
The best one I ever saw was Nagano, which was things like demonstrations of traditional Japanese archery and Seiji Ozawa conducting the Saito Kainen Orchestra. That was a good one.Only feebs vote.Comment

The opening ceremony was very nice. The little kids from the 少数民族 were soooo cute!
