We've done the long distance thing before. He's been on 4 month workterms in cities 4 hours away by plane. We make it work, can just be annoying sometimes.

I think he'll fly out to London a few times (once a month), since the ticket sare free. Not sure if he'll enjoy the jetlag so often though.

The only time I have ever been to London I realized what a ****hole it is. The bus drivers are paid for every bystander they hit. Duck feeding is a bigger industry than sex. And of course the police don't have guns so if a drug deal goes south you need to get your chainsaw out and go vigilante. The place is one of the worst in the world, PUNTING IS DONE IN FOOTBALL GAMES NOT IN BOATS, also remember to drive on the right side of the road..I just stayed in the middle for the longest time and it worked well enough.

Your SO doesn't need to be 'interested in London' for a short visit. You aren't going to be buying electronics so the fact the UK get screwed on this is irrelevant. As for the drunkenness, there are a staggering wide range of things you can do in London that don't involve alcohol. You can no doubt find a Canadian bar, watch some ice hockey, and say aboot a lot.
