    I'll be the first to say that with the two nominees that the dems put up I was amused thinking that what should have been a slam dunk for the dems might not be. I've also been making fun of people that say McCain doesn't have a chance.

    BUT looking at the recent polls (yes I know it's still way to early) and they're really looking bad for McCain.
    It's almost as if all his overconfident, absolutist assertions were spoonfed to him by a trusted website or subreddit. Sheeple

        Jesus Christ, Clark just got completely ass raped on NPR's "All Things Considered." It was bloody.

        I am waiting for transcripts to come out, but the commentator pretty much quoted Clark saying the exact same thing he used against McCain, only this time in support of John Kerry (only an O-2) four years ago.

          Retired Gen. Wesley Clark stands by his comments that John McCain's military service does not qualify the Republican to be president. Clark's controversial remarks prompted criticism from many quarters, including from Barack Obama.

You went on to say that John Kerry is a man who, in time of war, can lead us as a warrior. So why is military service a less important qualification now than it was four years ago?
            And Norris was correct, four years ago the far less extrordinary and command orriented service of another lowely JO (two ranks below McCain in Vietnam, ultimatley four ranks lower) was apprently exactly what made Presidential material according to Clark, and when asked what had changed not only did Clark not answere but Norris (after three attemtps) just told Clark she was going to drop it and move on, Clark didn't object.

            Clark has a point about why HIS personal experiance is more relevant in a technical sense, but he is made a buffoon due to his completely contridictory Kerry endorsement four years ago, and because he isn't running for preisdent right now, Obama is (who has even less military experiance than Bush which was as minimal as it gets).

              I'm a Democrat, and I thought what Clark has done with McCain's military record was stupid - I do NOT want Democrats taking this up in any manner.

              I created this thread though, to point out that the same people now outraged over this "swiftboating" of McCain includes people who were all giddy with the "swiftboating" of Kerry back in 2004.

              Kerry got the Purple Heart medal because he received wartime wounds during his service. The fact that other soldiers who have received more serious, debilating wounds never got a Purple Heart medal and for some on here to be "outraged" over that, is really ridiculous in my opinion. It's the system that may not be working right -- Kerry was a recipient of that medal based on how that system worked.
              A lot of Republicans are not racist, but a lot of racists are Republican.

                      Other than the being-tortured part, the only thing I can think of where he was treated well is that the North Vietnamese offered to release him because of his Admiral daddy, and McCain turned the offer down.

                        Kerry was a recipient of that medal based on how that system worked.
                        He won 3 purple hearts, AND spent Christmas in Cambodia. That was before he tossed them away and asked for them back.

                        How is it hypocrisy when the same group that complained about being swiftboated is the first to retaliate in the exact same fashion?

                        I find it very amusing that now all of a sudden military experience isn't enough, considering the argument with Kerry.

                        By starting a thread like this, you are just highlighting the stupidity of the Dems, they are hitting to McCain's forehand and he is smashing it back.

                          And no, even you would have to admit Clark was caught totally flat footed by Norris, whose job isn't to "gottcha" people by any means like Jon. It is not like NPR isn't a symathetic media outlet for him either.
