For you who have lived longer: What is gopher exactly? Except for an alternative to http, I get so much.

Hmm, didn't have a problem there myself

Gopher was pre-http. In a sense it was the bridge between FTP and HTTP. It was an early attempt to easily allow anonymous FTP (ie, downloading stuff without having to have a login) in a friendly layout. According to Wiki it lasted really only two years (1991-1993) before HTTP became dominant.

Mozilla, Opera, and Apple/Webkit code to the standard for HTML and CSS. Microsoft, until VERY recently, did not.
I'm a professional developer, working almost entirely on web applications and as far as I can see Asher is 100% correct on everything he's said about HTML standards, CSS, old versions of IE not adhering to standards etc.

IE allows you to get away with things it really shouldn't let you get away with. It allows sloppy programming to go unpunished. Microsoft are moving closer to the standards with every release. So you might as well get used to writing proper html.

Also, writing CSS is much easier and quicker than inlining your formatting with HTML.

                  I suppose.

The numbers didn't increment correctly in Opera.

Then again, they probably weren't designing it for Opera.

I'd suspect it's an Opera bug, the page is standards compliant.
