The movies are always good. Bible stories make good movies (as do LOTR and Greek myths) but the idea that you don't believe in god because you haven't read the bible is just plain stupid."I have never killed a man, but I have read many obituaries with great pleasure." - Clarence Darrow
"I didn't attend the funeral, but I sent a nice letter saying I approved of it." - Mark Twain

I'm starting to think a belief in god keeps you stupid."I have never killed a man, but I have read many obituaries with great pleasure." - Clarence Darrow

Has there ever been a religion thread here worth reading?I make no bones about my moral support for [terrorist] organizations. - chegitz guevara
For those who aspire to live in a high cost, high tax, big government place, our nation and the world offers plenty of options. Vermont, Canada and Venezuela all offer you the opportunity to live in the socialist, big government paradise you long for. –Senator Rubio

So that would be a no, then. I mean, if you assume the existence of God, sure. But then this all gets kind of meaningless, no?
There are plenty of illogical things out there and yet they still exist.
No, it's not reasonable to think that there are such aliens out there. But it is more reasonable to believe that than to believe in something that cannot be proven to exist.
Also, for clarification purposes, because I am unfamiliar with Dawkins' stance on this, does he suppose that intelligent aliens actually traversed the stars and seeded life on Earth on purpose or does he suppose that organic material on a passing stellar object may have ended up on Earth somehow? There's a big difference.
I won't deny that. But do we need the answer now? Why try to answer the big question when we have so many smaller questions to answer first, and before we have all the facts?
No, it's not an explanation. It's an assumption. Because you cannot state anything specific about God's existence, including him in your arguments must be done so as an assumption.
I'm not sure that I understand what you're trying to say here.
Sure, but few of them have proven as successful as the scientific method at producing useful results.
I'm going to guess you believe this because you believe in God, perhaps?
I would also argue that other explanations for how life arose are not flawed but incomplete. But as I've said before, this is okay in science.Scouse Git (2) La Fayette Adam Smith Solomwi and Loinburger will not be forgotten.
