The movies are always good. Bible stories make good movies (as do LOTR and Greek myths) but the idea that you don't believe in god because you haven't read the bible is just plain stupid.

I'm starting to think a belief in god keeps you stupid.

If calling people on their baseless creation myths makes me stupid so be it.

So that would be a no, then. I mean, if you assume the existence of God, sure. But then this all gets kind of meaningless, no?
                            Meaning!=Logic.

There are plenty of illogical things out there and yet they still exist.

No, it's not reasonable to think that there are such aliens out there. But it is more reasonable to believe that than to believe in something that cannot be proven to exist.
So unless something can be understood in the current realm of science it cannot exist? What do you make of Clarke's axiom, that any sufficiently advanced technology would be indistinguishable from magic?

Also, for clarification purposes, because I am unfamiliar with Dawkins' stance on this, does he suppose that intelligent aliens actually traversed the stars and seeded life on Earth on purpose or does he suppose that organic material on a passing stellar object may have ended up on Earth somehow? There's a big difference.
Nope, he really believes that intelligent aliens came to earth and seeded it.

I won't deny that. But do we need the answer now? Why try to answer the big question when we have so many smaller questions to answer first, and before we have all the facts?
It's man's nature to be curious about the ultimate questions of the universe. Thus partial or incomplete explanations are preferred to none.

No, it's not an explanation. It's an assumption. Because you cannot state anything specific about God's existence, including him in your arguments must be done so as an assumption.
I can list a variety of presuppositions that are inherent in the concept of God, that are logically consistant, in that a being without these qualities would not be considered God.

I'm not sure that I understand what you're trying to say here.
Science can't answer the question as to what qualifies as science. You need to go outside of science in order to answer that question. There are inherent limitations of science particularly in realms which are not believed to be empirical.

Sure, but few of them have proven as successful as the scientific method at producing useful results.
Why does an idea have to be 'successful'? Isn't it enough for the idea to just be?

I'm going to guess you believe this because you believe in God, perhaps?
I haven't always believed in God, but this was one of the steps that helped me get to where I am now.

I would also argue that other explanations for how life arose are not flawed but incomplete. But as I've said before, this is okay in science.
How would one go about proving by the scientific method that life on earth was seeded by intelligent aliens from other stars?
