  • Sometimes... I wish I was 20 again.

I don't miss the being poor part or driving a crap car but I do miss being young, in good shape, and with no care in the world other then finishing my term paper and impressing the girl I was going out with on friday night. I also don't like how it gets harder to get a quality lay as you get older. I love my girlfriend and she's good looking but somehow everything seemed more exciting when two 20 years olds were fiddling around.

this thread is my tribute to Isla Vista, CA a 2 mile by 2 mile bit of land near Santa Barbara right up against the pacific ocean filled entirely with 18-25 year old college students who studied hard and then partied even harder. A great place where Noble prizes were won and copious amounts of vomit were spewed on the city streets.

I.V.T.V. from my second year at UCSB. It's long but well worth it to see what living in I.V. was like. ****ing awesome place.

Another video about life in IV.

    Another IV video.

Pictures from about six years after I left IV.

Dead whale washed up on the beach literally half a block from where I used to live.

I understand they had to dynamite this whale. The state fish and game department came out and literally blew it hell then let the tide take away the bits of blown up whale.

It should be easier, as your long-term partner knows what you like and you know what she likes. Maybe not as exciting, but it should be better. Have you, I dunno, talked to her about how you feel?

I agree about the good shape and lack of responsibilities tho. It's a trade-off.

I think that opinion in the United States is decidedly different from the rest of the world because we have a free press -- by free, I mean a virgorously presented right wing point of view on the air and available to all.- Ned

No, I did not steal that from somebody on Something Awful.

I don't know why he saved my life. Maybe in those last moments he loved life more than he ever had before. Not just his life - anybody's life, my life. All he'd wanted were the same answers the rest of us want. Where did I come from? Where am I going? How long have I got? All I could do was sit there and watch him die.

No, we haven't talked about it but we've definitely entered the riding an old bicycle stage.

What a wonderful pet name you have for her.

It wasn't a name for her just a description of the situation.

You should call her "old bicycle" to her face from now on

I'm afraid I don't have much sympathy for you Oerdin. You have a good job, you have a girlfriend who you should probably break up with because she deserves someone who actually cares about her.

Why on earth would you want to be 20 again? I don't get that. I wouldn't want to be 20 again, that was a horrible year for me.

Uh... how many long term relationships have you been in Ben? Plenty of folks have far more passion early on in the relationship and feel that it gets to be a bit old hat later one (hence all the jokes about sex in marriage, or the lack thereof). It just is impolite to point that out.

I don't see that, really. I mean I'm waiting until I get married, and I think the relationship gets better as time goes on. Sure it might not be as passionate, but honestly, there are so many things that are better. I'm just saying, Oerdin isn't even married to this gal and he's expressing dissatisfaction with the relationship? It's clear he isn't in love with her at all, because the part he cares about is declining.
