  • How'd the Superdelegates Get Their Super Powers?

Here's The History of Democratic Superdelegates in a Couple of Minutes.

No they get their power by saping it directly from the people.

        They're vampires.

              This sickens me.

In this tight battle for the Democratic nomination we've heard a lot about the candidates courting superdelegates.

But, one superdelegate is courting the candidates. He says he'll sell his vote for a price. A very high price: $20 million.

Steven Ybarra of Sacramento says that eight-figure price is peanuts for the presidency.

Strictly speaking, he's not asking for the money himself, if you read the article... he's asking for $20m to be spent educating mexican-americans. That's not so bad

Still, it's buying the vote, even if the "currency" he's using is more along the lines of a special interest...

Eh, politicking, all he is doing is saying that he'll vote for the candidate that has a policy to educate Mexican-Americans. No different to, say, a superdelegate from voting for the person who'll give him/her the biggest tax breaks...

I'd just as soon not have to rely on the choices of superdelegates, with their "magic" powers.

                            QFT

The DNC can just get together and decide who their candidate will be without having an open primary. It isn't the government.

No, it's not the government -- it's a 50% chance of becoming the government. And this silly superdelegate system is borderline oligarchic.
