I didn't say we wouldn't take some losses...and you vastly underestimate the effect of 1 million tons of ordinance and 1000 US pilots defending US territory
The main thing Chavez is doing here is backing up his ally, Ecuador. Without Chavez' backing, Ecuador would simply have to take the attack and just stew about it. Poor Ecuador is always getting beat up on by its neighbors.
I agree that Chavez is just backing up his ally. It is also quite clear that Chavez has been looking for a reason to pound his chest in front of South American media at Colombia's expense. It is far more about his image than Ecuador's soverignty imho.
