So its a great haircut to wear when defending your country, but heaven forbid some school kid wears it. Maybe you should have send some brave conformity guys to invade France, they could have argued with the Nazis abour proper uniforms and haircuts instead of fighting them.

It's important to look good when invading.

Oh, and because there are bigger problems, 'little ones' should just get ignored until they too become big problems?
The real question is why should a school bureaucrat be able to dictate people's hair cuts? Especially when they are non-offensive to any sane person.

The bureaucrat should be reprimanded for grossly exceeding his authority for no good reason.

I'm getting worried, I've agreed with Oerdin in two threads in a row.

If the school administrator hadn't made a big deal of the haircut, it wouldn't be a distraction now.

It seems you do have some good sense after all. You just had to dig deep to find it.

In 4th grade a boy in my class came to school with a mohawk. It was a distraction for all of 10 minutes before school even started. He got a letter sent home then the next day the mohawk was gone because his mother had to shave it off if he did not want to get an ISS. . He was still way cute though.

                  Exactly.

School administrations are the most distracting parts of school. I say we ban them.

So would it also be okay for kids to wear baggie pants, showing off their bling and boxers.

At some point you need to instill discipline. All that crap can come out when they are more mature.

You really talk like a 3rd grader. ..the maturity level, the understanding of basic discipline. It reminds me of 3rd graders whining endlessly, only this 3rd grader apparently did not grow past this stage. MY LIGHTSABER TOY BROKE MOM CAN WE BUY NEW ONE? NO HONEY IT 'S YOUR THIRD ONE. And as we learned in this thread it means they weren't raised properly.
Did their mothers cut their hair that way?

I don't see why freedom applies in this case. 6 year olds want to do plenty of things that are not very good for their own well being. Is a parent bad for saying no?

You came up with the "raise" stuff in this case where the parent said yes. It wasn't my idea.

As terrible as this sounds, I have to side with Donageal and Ben here.

The mother was told TWICE not to cut her kids hair like that. So what if the kid likes it? The education comes first, and if the kids educators are telling her - don't send him in with that haircut, then the mother should have given him a regular cut, and then behind the scenes tried to get the policy changed. BUt the suspension did not come out of nowhere.

And standard haircuts are part of any dresscode - the point of a dresscode is conformity. Fine, a lot of people here obviously rage against conformitiy, but guess what, that is what early education is all about. Shocking, I know.....

Great, when they graduate they won't be able to read or write but they will be know what an "appropriate" hair cut is. No wonder home schooling interests as many as it does.

So they told her TWICE about their rules. Well, if that doesn't prove how these rules are well thought out and that nobody should ever try to question them....
