Unconventionally cute - suspended from school

Exactly how much hair must remain on the head for admission to school? Mohawks are out but what about those brutal "bowl" cuts? Depending on the severity of the haircut there could be considerable scalp showing. Where exactly is the conformity line?

This is really amazing, the amount of whining going on here. Real men do not whine about how they cannot wear their pants low, or cut their hair in distracting ways, because they know to suck it up and not be girls about it.

At the age of 6 you need to learn discipline, and part of that is following arbitrary rules, like needing hall passes, raising your hand before speaking, wearing your pants at the waist and not lower, and not cutting your hair like some sort of biker. Deal with it. I swear, people like you make me wish we had mandatory military service.

Up to administrators, I guess. In my high school there was a pretty strict definition, but no one needed to read it. Just not too short and not in any way the ears and you're fine.

If that's your definition of oppression, your country should be bombed into the ground and your children kidnapped. You'd learn what oppression is, and I wouldn't have to deal with this whining anymore.

Too right. And for discipline to work, there must be well defined rules. In this case, the rules did not address Mohawks...or any kind of hair styles.

What kind of discipline is it that punishes a kid for NOT breaking the rules?

It's in the rule that they can ban whatever's disruptive. It's also in there that 6 year olds need to comply with reasonable directives. This kid disrupted the class and ignored requests to comply, breaking two rules while coming across as a total douche.

Would it make you feel better if next year, or next month, they amended their handbook to ban mohawks? Easily done..
