Thank you Kiddy, I really needed a good laugh after battling my washing mashine.
With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.

    • Really you guys took a page out of Dubya's "they hate our freedom" book.

that does not surprise me, owing to the complete lack of understanding you have shown thus far in this thread.

They don't hate the fact that you have the freedom to make cartoons like that, just that you do make cartoons like that. mkay. Thank you, good bye.

sorry if i was unclear. i was talking about the protests where people were calling for violence against the cartoonists and also burning flags etc.

i agree with you about burning flags being a legitimate form of protest.

            • I just realized that the Danish flag is an inverse English flag.

                    No, just the opposite.

Kidicious is not going to back up his claims, guys, he already made that clear.

For the record, I didn't steal pages from Dubya though - destruction of books is something I leave to people of a political mindset much different to mine.

                      • It may interest you to know that Kurt Westergaard, the target for the murder conspiracy, and his wife were turned away last week by the hotel at which they had been staying since they were forced to leave their home over the threats. The unnamed hotel cited security concerns for its decision to end their stay.

Yesterday, Mrs. Westergaard was suspended from her job as a daycare worker at a municipal kindergarten in Århus. The management cited security concerns raised by a group of parents whose children are cared for at the center. Gitte Westergaard has had a 25 year career in daycare, but will be unable to work until "the crisis has passed" according to the daycare management. Gitte Westergaard, distressed and disappointed, says she does not foresee the "crisis" passing, ever.

From his unknown place of residence, Kurt Westergaard continues to publish satirical cartoons and vignettes on a daily basis in Jyllands-Posten, his employer for close to 40 years.

I didn't know this. She was outright suspended? (Edit: Read the article now, seems that indeed she was) I'm wondering if it's legal for anybody to suspend anyone else out of 'security concerns' like this.

Of course, it's far from unlikely that Westergaard wouldn't want to work there anyway after a request like that.

                          • It's standard.

Most people like that are cowards, and they would rather shun the victim then stand up and possibly take the risk.

I see one of two things happen.

                            1. He is honoured by Denmark and someone with half a brain takes care of his 'security problem'. If I were fairly well off that is what I would do. I would quietly furnish him a residence, and making sure that he has everything he needs to work.

The other is that he seeks asylum elsewhere. The second would be a disaster.

                            • Oh, and just to clarify, the quotation of 'security concerns' is meant to signify it as a technical term, not to dismiss the fact that people could have reasons to be concerned about security.

Sadly, it wouldn't surprise anybody at this point if some jackass had found out where she worked and sent threatening letters or whatever.

However, I still have some problems accepting you could legally do what has been done.

Just curious, why would it make so much of a difference whether he's hiding within Danish borders or outside of them? I think I know your answer, but just for the sake of discussion, do clarify.
