He's technically right ... the 20 year rule could still apply, after all; every 20 years a president has died since 1840 ... only Reagan (1980) broke that trend, and there were attempts on his life that were very nearly successful. According to the math, GWB needs to be careful...

    • Just thought of something. Bobby Jindal would make a very interesting McCain pick. Of the realistic options, I'd say that only him and Hutchison are reasonably worrisome picks (Crist would be as well, if he weren't gay)...

Because Presidential assassins pay attention to insignificant statistical anomalies (look at the sample size)...

I thought that was a picture of something a dog left behind.

Yep. Pretzelgate was quite a big scandal. Cheney was in tears.

                  I don't see immigration as a problem.

I see their stance on immigration meaning they are able to get at least 50% of the hispanic vote against Obama.

If your judgement held up and he needs to make no effort to appeal to the party's base, why do you think he is making nice with them at the CPAC gathering? Why waste the effort trying to mollify them if he doesn't need them?

                      • He does need them, but he was still honest about immigration there. I think the majority of people who are against him on immigration are also against an African-American president.

Most of thier problems center around immigration and taxes. Huck has all that as well with the added benefit of him having his own Willie Horton. What benefit does he gain by doubling his problems with the base when McCain has all the "advantages" you claim Huck has already?

                          • McCain's age is a factor and people don't want a John Tyler.

So? He could pick someone that would actually help him rather than compounding his existing problems.
