Stating that someone is on your ignore list after you have read their post is a lame attempt by people who aren't at all clever to throw personal insults which are acceptable to the mods. Fact.

Even if I accept the distinction that you have drawn (which I don't, because I believe that there are effects of that prejudice beyond mere "hurt feelings"), I still don't understand why this prejudice is treated as benign.

Even if it doesn't lead to institutionalized racism (which it eventually could), it could still encourage isolated, racially motivated attacks. The white guy who gets his head bashed by a black guy because he's white suffers from the black guy's prejudice just as much as the black guy who gets his head bashed in by a white guy for being black suffers from that white guy's racism. It also helps contribute to a general environment of racial tension, exacerbating our society's underlying racial problems.

Besides, our goal in this society is to get rid of racial prejudice as much as possible. Shrugging off outright racist lies as being harmless because "blacks" aren't "in power" (whatever that really means) goes against that goal. It encourages baehavior that we're trying to discourage. That's why I get annoyed with responses like yours and Guynemer's. If racial prejudice is something to be discouraged in whites, then its something to be discouraged in everyone.

But only very few posts in this thread went in that direction. Originally this was about a racist text wrapped in "diversity" and "scientific papers".

See now. You are in your own little world. Please give examples of hate crimes against white males.

That's just your opinion. I think that many of the attitudes that I've seen here at poly contribute to racial tension. Denying that whites are prejudice, which I've seen in bulk here, does much more to create racial tension.

Pretending like the problem is prejudice blacks goes against that goal. Look at the real problem to fix it.

The Bureau of Justice keeps statistics on hate crimes. Over the past 10 years hate crimes against whites have often exceeded hate crimes against blacks. You should be able to find this statistic easily.

I checked it out. It says that there is no significant difference between the two. Also, I noticed that the opinion of the victim determines whether it was a hate crime. So if a black man robs a white man and says give me your money honky, it counts the same as if a couple of rednecks go hunting for blacks and drag a few behind their truck.

You're amazing, Kid. First you laugh at the very thought that there could ever be a hate crime against by a black guy against a white guy (why that seems so implausible I can't understand). Then, when confronted with strong evidence that you're wrong, you give some lame, poorly thought out perception based excuse. Despite all this, you have the audacity to claim that I'm living in a dream world.

I hope this isn't taken as a personal attack, but you and a lot of people here don't seem to understand what it is like to be a black person. I mean not just a little bit, but you really have no idea. If you actually fear being a victim of a hate crime then you are just wrong. If you feel afraid of being robbed that's something else. Hell, as I said, I live in a black neighborhood. I don't feel afraid of being a victim of hate crime at all. I do however, feel afraid of being robbed maybe. If I were robbed and a black robber called me a honky I would know that his motivation wasn't hate. It was money. You simply aren't aware of the real situation here.

Certainly minorities face more widespread issues... but every ethnicity has it's share of idiots who hate and will target people based on the color of their skin. Seriously, how can you even begin to pretend this isn't the case?

No. White people are much more likely to terrorize another race. In fact, I think they are in an exclusive club in that regard. I need to see evidence otherwise. People calling people honky while they are robbing them doesn't count.
