educate yourself about colloquial english, then. I did not mean "a few days before the estonian dude got there, the brit got there" I meant " the estonian dude got there a few days before the brit dude got there" I phrased it as I did for style.
    Thanks for a lesson.
But it wasn't an Estonian dude, it was RUSSIAN DUDES.

I think it was quite comprehensible.
    It wasn't.

      • I love it when the Russians get agitated. They're so cute when angry.
Exult in your existence, because that very process has blundered unwittingly on its own negation. Only a small, local negation, to be sure: only one species, and only a minority of that species; but there lies hope. [...] Stand tall, Bipedal Ape. The shark may outswim you, the cheetah outrun you, the swift outfly you, the capuchin outclimb you, the elephant outpower you, the redwood outlast you. But you have the biggest gifts of all: the gift of understanding the ruthlessly cruel process that gave us all existence [and the] gift of revulsion against its implications.

so y'all agree that the november revolution was a mistake, and the USSR a bad thing?

Oh wait. The eevileltsin let the nationalities go. Lenin gave the nationalities nominal sovereignty within the USSR. Both were bad alternatives to pre-1917 Russia, which was actually the motherland of the nationalities, not their prisonhouse, right?

Hell, I can say the same about USA. The only difference is that ethnic diversity of USA comes from the fact that United States of America is a home sweet home for emigrants from all parts of the world, while ethnic diversity of Russia comes from the fact that Russia is HUGE and Russians didn't adoppted the policy of extermination of a native population.

              Of course not.
USSR was a good guy and YOU are the bad guys.

Yeah, something like that (but USSR still was a better alternative).

                • So the West discovers endless tracts of resource rich inhabitable terrain, and Russia finds a worthless chunk of ice about 400 years after the fact?

Nor did the US, they died of disease, as did no small number of the natives of Siberia, Kamchataka, etc.

The USN traces it's Maritime history through the RN, Hell our first commissioned ship was the Alfred named after teh English King. Much longer than the Russkis.

Oleg was indeed a Rurick, but he was a RUSSIAN Prince, not Swedish or Martian or whatever.
So, the Russian power projection at the beggining of the 10th century was pretty good (if not unprecedented).
Gotcha, so Oleg and his men, who were also Vikings(because what's the likelyhood that a buncha dirt farmers knew how to assemble longboats is plenty slim)built a bunch of boats and alledgedly sailed across the Black Sea. So, the Vikings did that, not the Russians. Hell, that's how the Varangian Guard was created. Not "the Slavic Guard". And the Varangian Guard was created because of a later expidtion. The one that you cite isn't even listed in Wikipedia, either under Oleg's entry or the comtemporary East Roman Emperor.

No maritime tradition, my ass. Who do you think discovered Antarctica?
Baltic German, as has been commented. Also, no one else hangs their maritime expedition on Antartica, why should you?
Today, you are the waves of the Pacific, pushing ever eastward. You are the sequoias rising from the Sierra Nevada, defiant and enduring.

Russia is the largest country on Earth and Russians explored, populated and exploit the largest and the most mineral rich terrain on this planet. That makes us the greatest land explorers ever.

And one day we will return Alaska back, which is the Russian soil.

and Russia finds a worthless chunk of ice about 400 years after the fact?

There is almost no portion of your Far/Central East terrirotry that the Mongols did not know about or indeed ride all over long before you guys were even called Russians.

Well at least at one point it was the policy wrt the Jews to kill one third, exile one third, and convert one third. So are you saying the Jews were NOT native to the parts of Poland-Lithuania that Russia annexed?

Where do you consider them to have been natives of, Israel/Palestine?

Very good, can your govt please reassert that fact loudly to the world, and insist on a just settlement of the ME crisis that recognizes that the Jews of Europe were native to Israel?
