From the man that goes to childish lengths to include Asher's name in titles in the OT.
I will give you credit for orginality though on this one.
It's almost as if all his overconfident, absolutist assertions were spoonfed to him by a trusted website or subreddit. Sheeple

G-d is not favoring one people, he is preserving the sanctity of a holy place.
Saying that God favours a specific place is a bit like saying he favours a particular soft drink or that he has a secret crush on Jennifer Lopez.

Not sure what 'Christian interpretation' you are looking at, but that's not been my experience.
an old way, not the only old way. At least since the Victorian era there have been Christians who have disavowed the "vengeful OT God" for the "peaceful NT God" Have you really never heard that meme? Do i need to look for examples?

No, its saying he set aside a particular place to have a special status. I never used the word "favor".

Then it would also have to apply to the Jews, since they also have their land taken and given to gentiles by God.

No, the traditional reason is just what I said it was.

Allocating a special status to a particular soft drink would have a similar meaning here, surely.

declaring a soft drink holy, set apart would, indeed, but Sandyman said "favoring"

Christians have holy water, certain foods and drinks for use in the ancient temple were set apart and holy, etc. Some mystically inclined Jews would say that there is holiness in all kinds of everyday objects. But thats not what I read in Sandmans post, rather an attempt to take our disdainful attitudes toward branding practices and celebrity culture, and somehow associate with the idea of a holy place, or of any kind of sanctification of the material. A nice rhetorical trick, but not convincing to me.

For a non-Jewish take on the sanctification of the material, and the consequences of abandoning it, see the final speech from Peter Schaefers "Equus"

It was a comment on the arbitariness inherent in the omnipotent, omnipresent creator of the universe playing favourites with things.

I think the Jews qualify because of Abraham.

As for his special land, why is there a problem if he sets aside a specific area, such as the Holy Land for him? He's omnipotent, there is nothing stopping him from doing so.

The problem is that not everyone agrees on what God's opinion is - as I explained above.

What we actually have is the word of men who claim to have recieved the word of God. Even ignoring the opinions of those who do not believe in God/s, believers will not agree among them themselves what His Opinion is.

Clearly the problem must exist of humans claiming Divine Authority to do their own bidding.
